Sen Schumer: "It never feels good to come up short, but when you do, you get up, you dust yourself off...

Manu Raju
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on the floor after Dem losses: "It never feels good to come up short, but when you do, you get up, you dust yourself off, you learn and you prepare to do better in the future, you study what occurred. We will do that. You listen to what voters are saying, and you find ways to make government responsive to those wants and desires, those dreams, those needs."

Was there ever a bill he brought to the Senate floor that he brought because because it was the right time for the bill whether or not it had a chance to pass? Even if Ds didn't have enough R votes to push a bill through, IMO, our D representatives should have pushed the bill as far as they could to secure a vote. In that way, on the campaign trail, the Ds could say we tried to help the American people, and that it was the R's who failed.

I remember seeing AOC on a news show shortly after she was elected complaining that the Ds wouldn't bring bills to the floor unless they were sure there were the votes -- and it made her mad for the reasons above.

After seeing him and Byrd, whoever comes next is bound to be a letdown.

But I don’t think we need someone on Reid’s level. As you said, those types do not grow on trees. Will leave it at that.

I'm out, y'all. This time it's different. Trump is a maniac like we've never seen, and most Republicans seem to be behind him.

I don't have any fight left. No joy, only dread.

I'm suspending my blog and will not be posting much at all here on DU.

Call me a coward if you like. I don't care. My main concern is now protecting my wife and family from the stupid hordes clamoring at the door.

Good luck, everyone. America is going to need it. Over and out.
