So it may be laughable but many people will look at his service as a qualification. Just pointing out that he isn’t just a talking head.

been retired from the Service for a few years before taking civilian command. Remember, the Senate was having an issue¹ with another recently retired general becoming SecDef when Lloyd Austin became SecDef.

Leon Panetta was SecDef under Obama, and he was in the military for two years, First Lieutenant.

That doesn't mean that any one of them is inherently qualified to be Secretary of Defense. The best selling book isn't a worthwhile qualification either, and especially not his "tour of duty" with FOX news.

All too often what's going on...is that "think" tanks, right-wing foundations, and Republican party organizations are buying massive quantities of books and then giving them away at their rubber-chicken fundraising dinners. Anything they can't give away either goes to the dollar stores or is shredded.

Hegseth and his first wife, Meredith Schwarz, divorced in 2009. He married his second wife, Samantha Deering, in 2010; they have three children.

In August 2017, while still married to Deering, Hegseth had a daughter with Fox executive producer Jennifer Rauchet, with whom he was having an extramarital relationship. He and Deering divorced in August 2017. Hegseth and Rauchet, who has three young children from her first marriage, married in August 2019.

Is that my husband, after over a decade away from the military, reenlisted at an advanced age to finish out the last few of his 20 years. When he got out, we were in 2 wars and he was sick of all of it. Now he wanted his retirement from the military and to then go back to government work and retire there.

This is so FUBAR.

What’s In America First’s Policy Agenda?

America First’s policy blueprint lays out a number of priorities in line with policy views that Trump and his allies have pushed, including imposing tariffs on imported goods, lowering corporate tax rates, protecting “religious freedom,” increasing domestic oil and gas production, getting rid of climate change efforts, opposing policies supporting transgender rights, opposing any gun control measures, imposing work requirements for Medicaid recipients, curbing immigration and reducing America’s role in assisting with international conflicts. The agenda does not call for banning abortion entirely at the federal level, but does argue for defunding Planned Parenthood. It also does not adopt Trump’s proposal for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, but does call for finishing the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, increasing funding for border agents and ending legal immigration programs like family-based immigration paths and the visa lottery.
How Is America First Different From Project 2025?

America First’s agenda is overall less extreme than Project 2025, which proposes a drastic overhaul of the executive branch that would include abolishing several federal agencies entirely, such as the Departments of Education and Homeland Security. That being said, both agendas are largely aligned in their values, pushing conservative principles and a focus on the federal government prioritizing “nuclear families” and policies that will encourage two-parent households. They also both suggest Trump should broadly overhaul the federal workforce and replace career civil servants with political appointees, with America First advocating that all government employees should be able to be fired “at-will”—making it easier for Trump to get rid of anyone who takes steps he doesn’t like—and only political appointees should be able to craft regulations.

If Trump keeps going the way he is going with his appointments, after Jan 20, he may set off the first military coup in America. It just depends on how far his minions go with the 2025 project and how much our democracy and country mean to the military past and present. Taking anti-democratic actions and anti-constitutional orders from a draft dodger against citizens may be the breaking point?

Isn't this the clown that said on one of those fox shows that it had been 10 years since he washed his hands? Something to do with immunity if I remember correctly. I am betting he wash his hands of any responsibility for any things that go wrong under his leadership of lack thereof. Sure you want to shake hands with him?
