possible societal benefits from Universal Basic Income:

people wouldn't murder to get money
people wouldn't steal to feed themselves and their families
since money would not be the measure of self worth, like it is to so many in our society now, other character traits would become measures of self worth, maybe even positive character traits like empathy, helpfulness, expertise, skills, honesty, etc

people maybe would have choices of where to work not restricted to working for abusive narcissists in dictatorial settings.

I bet you could think of more likely benefits.
I know I'm probably wrong about some things and I welcome learning about them.

]people wouldn't murder to get money yes they would, its basic income they would want more [/b
people wouldn't steal to feed themselves and their families again they would want more, ok food might be okay but a new tv would be great
since money would not be the measure of self worth, like it is to so many in our society now, other character traits would become measures of self worth, maybe even positive character traits like empathy, helpfulness, expertise, skills, honesty, etc The little bit of money would mean nothing, sure you could buy basic stuff, but what if you want a nice car. UBI would not be enough and self worth would still be tied to things like clothes and cars

people maybe would have choices of where to work not restricted to working for abusive narcissists in dictatorial settings. Possible, but being that UBI is normally figured out to be around 1500, it is not enough to live on so a job would still be needed

Sorry the last month has made me a little cynical

They'll use the fact people are getting a universal basic income to CUT entitlements. JFC. Doesn't anyone GET THIS!
IOW, for slow readers, let's say you make 40K a year in the service industry and a UBI is instituted that gives you a 20K additional.
You will be taxed on the full 60K. Moreover, the fact you are getting "extra" income will be used to gut social services because you
will be expected to pay out of pocket because you're getting the UBI. IOW, pay for it your fucking self! That's what's going to happen if
people fall for this shit.

I'm so done with this stupid shit.

The choice is going to be between something like this or nearly everyone living in squalor in one side and a few trillionaires on the other.

it's easier and more cost-effective for us to be dead.

Seriously. In their calculations (and I'm not talking about political faction - that is mere distraction, reality-tv entertainment).

The enslaved/incarcerated can do enough work to offset their minimal upkeep.
