Activists sentenced for red powder attacks on U.S. Constitution, museums

Two climate activists have been sentenced to more than a year in prison for throwing red powder on the U.S. Constitution display case at the National Archives after vandalizing art exhibits at Washington museums in earlier protests.

Donald Zepeda, 35, a serial vandal from Maryland, was sentenced to two years in prison for felony destruction of government property after dumping fine red powder over the display case on Feb. 14. Jackson Green, 27, of Utah, was sentenced earlier this week to 18 months for joining in the same offense, which caused more than $50,000 in damage and closed the Archives Rotunda to tourists for four days.

I guess they think people will stop using their cars, stoves and coal if they vandalize stuff.

1. While I agree their actions are wrong and should be penalized

(my first reaction was "good - they are idiots" )

it occurs to me that we will be seeing far far worse done to our Constitution and national treasures over the next years, and that destruction likely will not be prosecuted at all.

3. One crime doesn't excuse the other. It seems

to me that these "climate activists" do their cause more harm than good with these gestures. Vandalism and blocking traffic don't raise awareness of their cause they just make more enemies.

4. I agree. Just burns me a bit that the worst offenders will not be penalized accordingly.

2. My fav was the Just Stop Oil protestors who protested a GrandPrix race by sitting on the track--during race!

No way that could end poorly, right?
