Robert Reich and the Democrats' internal battles

Robert Reich says there is “a war for the soul of the Democratic Party” — which should now represent not just centrists or progressives but basically all Americans opposed to oligarchy.

But he's not helping right now.

Bar a massive amount of votes being magically found and a Democratic Party LEADERSHIP willing to fight . . .

The Maggot is inevitable along with eyeliner boy.

I listened carefully to the whole thing. Nowhere does Reich get into farfetched schemes for a recount — which are actually unhelpful. Trump won the electoral college. Dems shouldn’t mimic right-wing election deniers.

Instead, he gives concrete suggestions for realistic steps people can take and organizations they can join moving forward.

To his point about the DNC — how it shouldn’t just be an organization that takes money from Wall Street and billionaires in exchange for killing any real chance of reforms — fundraising has changed a lot in recent years. Small donors can play a major role if harnessed right.

But you’re not going to get a groundswell of popular support by promising to defend predatory economic elites. Democrats had a mandate for real reform in 2009 and chose to bail out Wall Street elites.

Now it turns out economic elites are overwhelmingly backing their opponents. Pro-Wall Street Dems look like two-faced chumps to their own voters and like defenders of a corrupt system to Trump voters. That’s no way to come back from a resounding electoral defeat.
