Because if there were no trariffs placed on raw materials, the US location would be advantageous for a US market.
As usual, the media just does the human interest portion without getting to the root cause.

I'd like to know whether if were operating expenses, price of raw materials or labor that made it uncompetitive.
Tire manufacturing is dirty and rather low-tech work that frankly can be done pretty much anywhere.

...I don't yet see evidence this is the result of the Face Eating party winning on the 5th.
I find it a difficult to believe a $25 billion company made this decision in under 10 days.
More likely, this has been planned since Q1.
