I'm involved in politics in Elkhart County, Indiana. The day after the election, I had this interaction with a Trump supporter.
She told me that she only votes in presidential elections, she thinks politicians are scum, and votes ONLY for Trump and leaves the rest of the ballot blank.
Like it or not, there are tens of thousands of voters like her across the country, including key swing states. It's why Dems do so well in midterms and special elections, but the GOP outperforms expectations in presidential years.
Big question is if these voters come out again in 2028, or if they stay home when Trump is no longer on the ballot.

(62,086 posts)... so many state legislatures get away with gerrymandering.
Also the bigger the turnout, the better Democrats do.

(6,510 posts)Trump won in two of the last three presidential elections, and nearly won in 2020. Meanwhile, Dems wrecked the GOP in the 2018 midterms, far outperformed expectations in 2022, and wiped the floor with them in most special elections over the past seven years.

Or is that considered backdoor voter disenfranchisement ?
