Trump selects climate crisis denier oil executive Chris Wright as energy secretaryhttps://www.nydailynews.com/2024/11/16/trump-chris-wright-energy-secretary-oil-fracking/
President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday he has selected Chris Wright, an oil and gas industry executive, to lead the Department of Energy in his upcoming administration.
Wright, the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy, a Denver-based oilfield service company, is a staunch defender of fracking and fossil fuel use who has never served in government.
Last year, Wright took to social media to talk about some deceptive and destructive words and phrases people use when discussing energy and climate, including climate crisis, carbon pollution and clean [and] dirty energy.
There is no climate crisis and were not in the midst of an energy transition either, he said in a video posted on his LinkedIn page. Humans and all complex life on earth is simply impossible without carbon dioxide. Hence the term carbon pollution is outrageous.

It doesn't require any nuanced interpretation to see where this guy is coming from.

It's still an Inconvenient Truth no matter who the Energy Secretary is.

At least since the early 1990s. Dumbya's toadies called him "Ozone Man" prior to the 2000 election. He was scheduled to be a keynote speaker on the subject at an ecological conference I attended in 1996, but had to cancel because Clinton had just named him his running mate.
And, I remember the climate and environmental scientists screaming about this since the 1970s.

When I was younger it was the atmosphere, Ozone.
Then the lake died, a great lake.
Then the Gulf of Mexico full of oil.
Now the oceans are polluted.
I think an overdue super volcano would finish it.

To be quite honest.

(3,063 posts)7. This is what people voted for
Trump was clear that he would refuse to accept anything premised on a climate crisis, and that oil and gas drilling would ramp up rather than down. This was not a mysterious element of his platform. People voted for this catastrophe.
