CA-13: Another election, another long wait for Duarte, Gray and California's 13th Congressional district

Nearly two weeks after the election, the race for California's 13th Congressional District remains a toss-up.

Republican incumbent John Duarte leads Adam Gray by about 2,000 votes as of Monday night. The latest ballot processing data shows there are still about 28,000 votes left to count with the bulk in Stanislaus and Merced counties. Those counties are scheduled to release an update by Tuesday night.

Both Duarte and Gray are prepared for the long haul because they've been through this before. In 2022, they were separated by 564 votes and both attended new member orientation in Washington D.C. that year.

Neither needed to go to orientation this year, but both said they are staying occupied with their day jobs while keeping an eye on the count.
