Stop with the lazy shit-posting and explain what you think he should do.

I'm seriously tired of people who don't have a clue how things work opining about steps someone should take.

Let me guess, he has total immunity! What a lazy take. The Supreme Court never ruled any president has the capability to do whatever they want, just that they can't necessarily face legal actions for presidential acts.

Okay, so what? You want Biden to assassinate Trump?

Jail him?

How? You still need people to do the bidding. Who's going to arrest him? Who's going to try him (due process is still a thing)?

What the fuck do you want him to do and no, "SOMETHING" isn't an answer.

put the brakes on that. Secondly, he could grant automatic citizenship to Dreamers. Probably wouldn't hold up legally, but it would delay their deportation. I think he should pardon his son. Sure, he did the crimes, but we're looking at hundreds of violent insurrectionist criminals being forgiven on January 20, 2025, and Hunter's crimes are small potatoes compared to them. Trump wants to ramp up federal executions of criminals on death row. Biden could stay that and turn it into a life sentence. There's lots of stuff he can do if he wants to.

And before anyone suggests it more concretely than the OP did, the Supreme Court gave Trump a get out of jail/get out of court card for most of his official acts. It did not grant him the authority to do those acts in the first place, nor did it grant those acts the authority of law. He can no more declare anyone a citizen than I can. A President's first duty is to defend and protect the Constitution (and this nation) from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Traitor Trump has pledged to terminate our Constitution, and is inextricably tied to our #1 foreign adversary, who is presently threatening us with nuclear war, and who has done everything it could to meddle and interfere in our election process.

Suspending habeas corpus?

I'd say the comparison would be fairly expansive from that during a hot war (and I'm not overly inclined to say he was acting within his authority, the Constitution doesn't grant such power and a President's power is from that source) to get to what folks seem to be inferring but refuse to exactly fess to.

We'd be overturning the whole order and would do so with absolutely no basis in the law or precedent so what would happen after that do you think?

What exactly would you have President Biden do.

Throw Trump in jail.

Ignore the will of the people, albeit stupid, ignorant, and wrong.

Declare himself dictator.

There is nothing lawfully, constitutionally President Biden can do.

And that President Biden wouldn’t do any of the above illustrates why he’s a great president, why Democrats are defenders of the rule of law and Constitution, and why Trump and the GOP are fascist thugs and scum.

48. If you are referring to the immunity decision -
Tue Nov 19, 2024, 02:48 PM

The Supreme Court granted the president absolutely no power. It didn't make the act legal (not even when done by the president). It doesn't grant the act the power of law. It gave him a get-out-of-jail-free card, should any act he takes turn out to be illegal.

...afford him any protection from violations of the law, at all.

Especially since Roberts made clear their rulings were just for the case in front of them and don't apply to any other.

Love how people present their demanding that others put themselves in jeopardy with this kind of machismo, as if shouting the inane expectation makes it any more salient.

56. Reminder: when positing an opinion, be sure to clear it with the cheerleaders first
Tue Nov 19, 2024, 03:02 PM

Because the first priority is always to make fellow Democrats feel stupid, and to his end, the cheerleaders are more than happy to assign themselves the role of Gatekeeping Arbiters of Truth.

They alone are qualified to assess reality! Thye alone are free to voice opinions! They alone Know What’s Going On! They alone are free to speak in figurative or hyperbolic terms, while the rest of us are required to post material able to withstand prolonged cross-examination by top flight constitutional lawyers.

Thank god the cheerleaders are here to remind us how much smarter they fancy themselves to be, so that we can bask in their brilliance while Trump runs roughshod over local, state and federal laws with impunity. In the meantime we can take comfort in the knowledge that the cheerleaders prevented anyone from exaggerating, because truly that’s the greatest crime of all.

It's the smug condescension that marks the cheerleaders' invective, and you've done a great job of illustrating it here. I mean, I'm sure that you're not a cheerleader, but they do that exact kind of "supposed to be the party based in reality" mockery all the time.

Absolutely the last thing that any of us needs is a safe space for blowing off steam now and then.

One would think that these intellectual paragons could find it within themselves to ignore the threads that so offend their righteousness, but that would mean missing out on a chance to remind everyone of the cheerleaders' transcendent wisdom in all matters legal, political, social and economic.

Praise be to the cheerleaders and their endlessly effete scoldings!

(relatively harmless, as long as the blowing off steam is not trans-hostile, etc.), and spreading misinformation about the law or advocating acting out of a misunderstanding of the law.

in salute to your perspicacious intellect!

But here's a fun challenge!

Where did Mark Twain say that?

Let's start here:

Let us swear while we may, for in Heaven it will not be allowed.
- Notebook, 1898

If I cannot swear in heaven I shall not stay there.
- Notebook, 1898

Profanity is more necessary to me than is immunity from colds.
- Letter to Orion Clemens, 14 May 1877

The spirit of wrath and not the words -- is the sin; and the spirit of wrath is cursing. We begin to swear before we can talk.
- Following the Equator

If you go to the link, you'll find tons of praise for cursing.

So I hope you can supply me with the one time when, for whatever reason, Mark Twain declared cursing to be a motherfucking thing.

Your post.

Everyone keeps asking me what I would do short of fucking violence. So, I'm going to oblige this one fucking time with one thing I would do.

If I were Joe Biden, I would order Treasury and Education to wipe every federal student loan off the fucking books. Today. Right the fuck now. Wipe them out so fast, no fucking judge, no fucking state could do anything about it.

Here's a second thing, I would get on the idiot box and tell the American people that for the next 60 days, I'm going to bypass the worthless gits in Congress and get the things done that need to be done before Motherfucker takes the oath of office.

Then I would execute and exercise my authority to the limit because there is no limit.

That's what I would do.

What happens when the rapist dismisses Congress - it's in the Constitution - and appoints him to the position bypassing the "norm" of "advise and consent?"

Where are your oh so precious courts on that one?

Speed of action is what's needed at this point, not fucking norms.

You were demanding powers be used to stop the takeover so I'm confused why the first thing has nothing to do with that but student loan forgiveness but a new magical kind the courts cannot reverse.

Then some ignoring of Congress to get things done which largely would have no force of law or could be instantly reversed so talking loud but doing nothing.

This also does nothing to.address the original root issue.

All the anguish through the thread and the end game was actually a magic goodie and hollow chest beating of an impotent lame duck playing at dictator for a television audience?

A pardon can't keep the next commander in chief from firing a general or removing their security clearances... and there was never any actual chance that they would be going to prison when they had to be following the president's directions.

And I can't think of a way to do it that doesn't hurt politically. As you hint
