Speaker Johnson says transgender women won't be allowed to use women's restrooms in Capitol

Yet again, Mike Johnson is proving to be a shit

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/speaker-johnson-transgender-women-allowed-womens-restrooms-capitol/story

House Speaker Mike Johnson said transgender women cannot use women's restrooms in the Capitol and House office buildings. This also applies to changing rooms and locker rooms, Johnson said.

"All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex," the statement said Wednesday.

Johnson continued, "It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol."

It's unclear what will happen with South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace's bill.

Mace said Tuesday that the bill she introduced to ban transgender women from using women's restrooms at the U.S. Capitol was "absolutely" in response to Rep.-elect Sarah McBride entering Congress.

A place here in Santa Fe has a wonderful one: large, open room with the wash basins on one side, maybe 15 feet(?) to where the stalls are, some ten of them all with locking doors.

Oh, and who exactly will be doing the genital/birth certificate check to make sure people go to the right place?

If this was my issue I would follow Johnson into every bathroom to harass the shit out of him and all the Repugs. Stay in the men’s bathroom during every break with your phone out. See how long it takes.
Or just open the women’s bathroom door but don’t go inside. Stand there with the door open.
I hope she gives it back to them.

They are the biggest jerks in DC,I would let everyone know.

Or anyone else who feels she doesn't belong.

The only reason Mike Johnson (and Mace) wants to force the issue is to humiliate her and to bully her and given the chance they would attack her in the bathroom or locker room or changing room. And I do mean physically attack her.

Yes, I do find them, the whole of the GOP, that depraved.

Rep. Nancy Mace says her anti-trans bathroom bill 'absolutely' targets Rep.-elect Sarah McBride
McBride, the first out transgender person elected to Congress, will serve in the House starting next year, and Mace doesn't want her using women's bathrooms at the Capitol.

Their delusion of a binary Christian Nationalist, well to do, well bred, well fed, society of white people makes me want to .
Such deliberate antagonism, by the right. These days, most Republicans, are crude, delusional, and get off on stalking trans-gender people and because they can't, or don't want to try to understand another persons reality. They are fearful bigots.

He's not the employer of all the staff at the Capitol and I'd be surprised if the Speaker of the House writes or is the decision maker on facilities policy for the buildings.

Sounds like the makings of an employment discrimination lawsuit if there are any other transgender staffers who are being discriminated against at their place of employment and denied access to convenient bathroom facilities.

Also in my experience "unisex facilities" often means "disabled bathrooms" which means if you're trans you end up being the visibly able-bodied person making someone in a wheelchair or with a heart condition or incontinence wait to use the bathroom.

in how she goes about her job. She identifies as female and would need to use female bathrooms and facilities.

To me, it would be like the Speaker deciding he doesn't want black people to use the same facilities as white people - there's a fundamental civil rights issue at play here.
