House Ethics Committee investigators probing sexual misconduct allegations against former congressman Matt Gaetz obtained records showing that he paid more than $10,000 to two women who testified before the committee, according to a person familiar with the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive material.

The news comes as the House Ethics Committee declined to release its report probing sexual misconduct allegations against Gaetz (R-Florida), after a closed-door meeting Wednesday, as President-elect Donald Trump’s embattled attorney general pick attempted to sell himself on Capitol Hill to skeptical GOP senators ...

years ago. I had to get a NSA clearance to work there. Today you can be a convicted felon and not be cleared by the FBI or the NSA and be president or AG.

Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Elon Musk ... have faced varying degrees of sexual misconduct allegations ...

Gaetz, Trump's attorney general pick, said he did not have a sexual relationship with a minor, a 17-year-old, while he was a member of Congress, despite sworn witness testimony to the contrary ...

A 2017 sexual assault investigation into the man Trump plans to nominate to be defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, resulted in no charges, according to Hegseth's lawyer. Hegseth reached a confidential settlement with the woman involved.

Eight employees of SpaceX filed a lawsuit earlier this year accusing CEO Elon Musk of fostering a hostile work environment that the plaintiffs say was rife with sexual harassment. The eight plaintiffs said that during the course of their employment with SpaceX, they were exposed to "unwanted conduct and comments of a sexual nature by Elon Musk that created a hostile and abusive work environment," their lawsuit said ...

Garland promised Magats he would not be partisan to them.

Garland could also release the Mueller report any day now.

That leaves us to conclude that everybody who has risen through politics enough to win a seat in Congress or the cabinet probably has plenty of skeletons.

Remember, it took an illegal act, a break in to the FBI offices to reveal the full extent of corruption that J. Edgar Hoover had established in the FBI culture, which led to the 1975 Church Committee hearings that brought much of that out into the open. How many people from both parties knew that the FBI was way over the line, but decided to remain silent because "there but by the grace of God go I"

My point is simply that, despite all the criminality we have seen Trump (and everyone around him) get away with, there is at least some consolation that in today's world of crowdsourced discovery, these people have a real problem operating in secret. They are, unfortunately, still able to protect each other. But at least it is getting harder for these things to remain secret.

Gaetz is not the first high politician to engage in sex trafficking with minors. Epstein's island was full of them. And we need to keep pushing to expose every one of them.

We're deep in Washington Generals territory at this point.

Garland had control of DOJ for four years. He could have asked the FBI to review their investigation of Kavanaugh. He did nothing. You know damn well that any GOP USAG would have immediately had the team that conducted such a review on a Dem appointed SCOTUS Justice called on the carpet before the fucking clock struck February.

Why do we bother?

Oh, and now about the lectured by the usual

After all, there might be many many things he's doing that we mere citizens don't know about, and he'll spring into action just in time to save everything.

giving blow by blow status updates about Hillary and her e-mails? Remember how the FBI had no problem over the last many, many decades giving out information on their "investigations" and files? I am absolutely convinced they will now find it an inappropriate thing to release information.
