(1,419 posts)The ICC did not provide the arrest warrant as a public-facing document, but issued the following statement:
"The Chamber issued warrants of arrest for two individuals, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr. Yoav Gallant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024, the day the Prosecution filed the applications for warrants of arrest."
"The arrest warrants are classified as secret, in order to protect witnesses and to safeguard the conduct of the investigations."
Any nation that is a signatory to the ICC has an obligation to execute these arrest warrants.
The US, India, Indonesia, and China are not state parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (Rome Statute),[1] which founded the ICC in 2002.
These two PIFWCs can therefore safely travel to those four countries without fear of being pinched.
Nota Bene: SC Jack Smith completed an assignment at the ICC prosecuting PIFWCs (Persons Indicted For War Crimes) before investigating #45.
