The company NSO group, which created Pegasus, a spyware deployed in 45 countries, targets journalists, human rights activists, and political figures and can hack into someones smartphone and copy communication records, calls, apps, pictures, personal data and then disappear, Farrow said. The message of this film is to understand how spyware can change civil liberties, such as the upcoming Trump administration promising mass deportation and using technology in spyware to achieve those goals and what that will look like for the future.

(11,844 posts)I think it may have been used by MBS to track and murder Khashoggi. I also remember reading about a dissenter in Canada who was murdered. In the hands of the Trump administration, it will be a dangerous tool.
It can also be used to track and police women who leave red states for abortions so they can be prosecuted. Or they can be tracked even when leaving the country for an abortion. Things are about to get really ugly.

(4,314 posts)My mind keeps flashing back to the 'food riot' scenes of the movie Soylent Green. Forcing more births on an already over populated finite world is how the richest will assure plenty of human resources to exploit.

Thanks!
