or do you know anyone who has so much money they don't know what to do with it?
thom hartmann has talked about the massive number of right wing radio stations across the country -- the ones many of the truckers (and everyone else) listen to or can only listen to b/c there isn't a choice.
a few minutes ago he commented about air america (swoon -- remember that station?), saying that he believes air america was a huge reason obama got elected b/c it was on stations in 80% of the country.
chicago area has wcpt. what are the other progressive am stations? i don't know.
anyway, it would be great if gov. j.b. pritzker would invest in this endeavor. or any other democrats that have the financial ability to help our democracy through the airwaves.
just a thought.

(13,612 posts)This is one of my biggest hopes for years, that we could take over or flood the available frequencies with real news and hope. As an electronics buff, I actually built an illegal radio transmitter in the AM band and flooded our neighborhood with a whopping 8 watts of news from the Left. I think it could reach about a 3 block radius. Ha. Lotta good it did. But it was fun anyway and the neighbors never complained ... or they didn't listen.

Look at the pathetic stock price of Salem Media Group (SALM) which blends conservative talk with Christian evangelism. Those people are really committed to pumping out their ideology despite throwing away tons of money to keep doing it.
