(15,762 posts)If the dude did it... and he did... he should be buried UNDER the prison.
And I'd say the same thing whether he was from Honduras, Guatemala or Cleveland.

(19,317 posts)The way he killed her probably should have resulted in more coverage. It was a very brutal murder.

(1,631 posts)She was an innocent young woman, out for a morning run and was brutally murdered. Those types of crime stories always make the news, as they should.

(2,388 posts)normally make "i agree" posts, but on this one I think it is required.
UNDER the prison is the only place for someone who would do such a thing.

(1,631 posts)of this young woman's life. Would it matter more to you if she had not been white? How about the 12 year old Hispanic girl murdered, in Houston, by two guys here illegally? Yes, murders happen every day and we have enough psycho criminals who are Americans, of all colors and ethnicities. We don't need more.

a minority only murder** Nobody is contending that it wasn't terrible - and your straw man outrage fails. I'm a little busy rn, but I may do my own OP on this and bring the receipts**

I agree about missing native American women and all missing people not getting enough coverage. Unfortunately, because there are thousands missing at any given time, the media can't even begin to cover them all and one has to hang out on crime forums to be aware of how bad this problem is. I am a member of one so I am aware.
Violent stranger murders tend to get a lot of coverage because the communities are shocked and afraid, especially the women and girls. That includes the murder of the little 12 year old girl who was bound and strangled under a bridge, which also got a lot of coverage.

(1,631 posts)What to think about it? It's tragic and a parent's worst nightmare. I haven't really followed it but heard her head was smashed in with a rock.

(10,372 posts)... but the coverage of this story is propaganda. The MAGA media are so good at this... FOX dragged mainstream into the story. The so-called "liberal media" is lacking. They should find and promote crimes from immigrants who entered - and will enter - under Trump. Promote "red state" crimes and criminals. Go after non-public school staff committing sex crimes. Every single report should be introduced with "President Trump failed, again, to stop these horrific..." Just like all these news stories about sex crimes of Trump's cabinet picks should be accompanied by the reminder that Trump himself is a sex offender. Every news story. Every. Single, News. Story.

(806 posts)This latest case was harped on constantly as a way of showing that the Biden administration was dropping the ball on immigration and the border.
The Mollie Tibbetts case was very similar, but happened under Trump. So whatever he did wasn't very effective either, I guess?
Of course, most people bringing up Laken Riley don't really care about her as a person or value her life. Her death was just a convenient tool. If she had bled out in a hospital parking due to being denied reproductive care, they wouldn't have shed a tear.
