there are a lot of extremely wealthy business CEOs, owners, etc., whose fortunes rely on the dollar, and on consumers forking their dollars over to them. He likes to brag about how good the economy does when he’s in charge so he might back off a few policies like tariffs if the markets start tanking or if inflation hits double digits, which I expect if he does impose tariffs and deports many thousands of undocumented workers. I think the hope is also that an initial vicious roundup of a few hundred people, US citizen children among them, who are immediately flown out of the country or simply dumped deep in Mexico without being given an opportunity to prove citizenship will cause a lot of fear with the result being that more hundreds self deport. Even a few thousand can make a difference in food price inflation because with our low unemployment rate few people are available to take those jobs or are even willing to.
