Gift link, no paywallSome Republican senators are voicing private concerns about Gabbard, who would be Trumps director of national intelligence, according to one person familiar with the matter, raising the prospect of a new round of scrutiny for Trumps picks.
When asked about Gabbard, Sen. Thom Tillis (R., N.C.) said the director of national intelligence should be someone who supports Ukraine in its defense against Russia, as he does.
Im going to have to have a very compelling story for anybody whos going to influence policy in Ukraine, Tillis said. At DNI, I dont know if thats her or not, but when I get into the nomination process, I have no intention of supporting anybody who equivocates on support for Ukraine.
Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed (D., R.I.) said that since Gaetz has withdrawn from consideration, scrutiny will shift to these national-security picks, and that will, I think, raise additional questions about fitness.

(17,132 posts)Gaetz removed himself from the nomination because of more damaging information coming out.
Did CNN even run the story? Either way, he chose not to continue because of more of his own criminal actions possibly coming to light.
The US media is not our friend, it is not even a neutral observer/reporter. It is an arm of the Republican party these days, with a very few notable exceptions.

(10 posts)Exactly this. WSJ is running cover for the fact that Trump got exactly who he wanted, by suckering sensible , moderate Republicans to go all in against Gaetz so now Bondi (much more competent and dangerous) looks like a great choice. Don't buy their BS.
