Why a responsible media matters in a democratic country:
We just saw an election, where the voters believed the answers to America's problems, was a candidate whose first nominations for his cabinet included rapists, a pedophile, a groomer, a Russian asset and a Florida attorney who took bribes and gave polluters a pass.
It was an election where American Latinos voted to deport their abuelas.
Muslim Americans voted to hasten the genocide of Palestinians.
People who were angry about the price of eggs supported tariffs, that will increase prices to the consumer.
People whose lives depended on the Affordable Care Act voted to repeal Obamacare.
What could have changed this? The media was given First Amendment protections, precisely to eliminate this kind of disconnection. They had panels of undecided voters where these discrepancies should have been made obvious. And, yes, it really does come down to bringing out the chalk board to talk to them like they're in the sixth grade.
Obviously, Democrats also have to bring these explanations down to that grade level as well.
