Register Republican,
The Musk.Ramaswamy government worker purge will be a Mccarthy-type purge that aims to remove anyone "woke."
Musk is going on X and asking workers (most likely asking Magat workers) to rat out "woke" workers.
Let's not kid ourselves, all Democrats are on the purge list.
Putin/Musk/Trump want all Democrats to be afraid to come out of the shadows. Fuck them all I'm a proud Democrat who believes in democracy, but I'm retired, can't lose my job.

Although I wouldnt put it past this bunch to try to mess with the retirement benefits of people who are registered Democratic Party voters.
So, just an accusation from some MAGAt is going to be enough to them to try and remove someone from their job? Im sure that will do wonders for morale in the workplace.

(150 posts)the economy will implode if they do this.
And they are coming after social security, Medicare, Medicaid and ObamaCare.
Just like Netanyahu has been killing all the Palestinians, this is the first steps by the orange vomit stain to perform genocide on the American Left and anyone who doesn't worship His Lordship.
I'm still numb and can't think beyond the fact that he is in power.
I wish I had a good counselor that I could trust to help me work through this emotional crisis. Forget that!
Sorry this post isn't more uplifting.
Think. Again.

During China's one child policy if you ratted out a pregnant friend you got a
better job and apartment.

First of all, nice work! I know why Tangerine Idi Amin and his flying monkeys hate you. I am so proud!
Okay, what can be done.
Yes, you could re-register as R, but it might be better to go I. If it comes down to it, make them prove that you are what they say.
Join one of the FE unions. Theres strength in numbers.
Insist that your retirement investments are not vested in anything Musk or move out of funds which includes them. All it takes is a little research.
Long shots:
Pressure the current administration to issue a late hour EO allowing rolling slowdowns or strikes.
I know these things go against the grain of any earnest civil servants, but you didnt start it and you have the power to stop it.

(11,364 posts)Other than say, the maintenance workers and other blue-collar workers, Intelligence Community employees are not unionized.
Hugin
(34,747 posts)"Federal employees are not barred from forming unions. In fact, unionization is quite common across the federal government. More than half of federal jobs are classified as bargaining unit employees, meaning they are represented by a labor union. However, there are some restrictions. Certain employees, such as those in confidential positions, those engaged in personnel or national security work, and most management and supervisory roles, are excluded from forming a bargaining unit."
From: The Federal Times
Barring management and HR from being in a union is typical. The exception for confidential positions is unique for federal employment and is done for national security concerns.

(880 posts)what i learned from this election is that reality does not matter to people who think little johnny goes to school and comes home as a girl.
the reality is that there are not many ways to cut $2T from the budget, and that musk is not going to cut much of his own take.
i do not believe that it is "ignorance" nor acceptance of theur delusions to be prepared,

(1,935 posts)What I will do without my government pension, medicare and social security. I had to retire early due to illness so my pension is small. Without these things I don't have many options since I have no family. I have worried about this since the election and see only one way out. I'm not close to using that option but it looks better and better everyday.

(880 posts)their own voters, like most of the guys at the vhw last night, don't yet realize that is what they voted for.
they think medicaid is "free stuff" for poor people but really it is what keeps their own mothers in the nursing home..
also, plenty of republicans (scott of fla and my sen cassidy are two) make real money from medicaid/medicare

There should be lawsuits and demonstrations of outrage. And pushes for Musk to step down from his companies before commencing his government work. Thats what wouldve happened five years ago 10 years ago 15 years ago 30 years ago, etc. we dont need to make it easier for Trumpism.

The want this purge to go as quickly as possible and I think checking one's background will not necessarily priority one.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.
And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

(16,336 posts)The first Amendment of the United States Constitution guarantees the right of free association though the right to peaceful assembly. You may be a member of a political party and unlike a private employer, government activities cannot legally fire you for membership in that political party. The McCarthy era attacks on Communist party membership were ultimately ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS. Private actors did their blacklists, but government attempts were ultimately stopped. And regardless of that fact, the Democratic Party is one of the two main parties in the United States, with as much membership nationally as the Republican Party. You can't claim that party isn't loyal, no matter how much you bloviate.
This election was not a blowout. There are almost as many Americans who voted against Trump as voted for him. No attempt to force 10s of millions of Americans into second class citizenship will succeed if you fight it.
Now here's where i'll get aggressive. Adolph Hitler's Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service was the first act of the Holocaust. If a government is willing to fire you because of your political party membership, they are willing to murder you! If Musk or Ramaswamy succeed in firing civil servants because they are registered Democrats, then the answer is violence. You either act to eliminate the threat to your family then and there, or you and your family will ultimately be forced to have a shower with no water.
