Just a reminder that the 2024 election result does indicate we are generally pretty much fucked.

But not NEARLY as fucked as we all probably think we are.

At the end of the day a dictatorship is only as strong as it's people consistently allow it to be.

2. I am worried for the economy. The stock market HATES uncertainty.

And I think the one thing we can be certain of regarding the TSF regime, is that it brings uncertainty.

Right now the Dow is looking happy that TSF won (markets have no morals, of course). But wait until he actually starts DOING some of the stuff he promised.

Oh wait, TSF lies about EVERYTHING. We have NO IDEA what he will actually do, except to take whatever revenge he can on his "enemies".

That NO IDEA is what scares me. Once the market figures that out, our retirement accounts may be in trouble. And if the stock market is in trouble, the economy as a whole will be in trouble.
(emphasis added for anyone who thinks they "don't care" about the stock markets).

For the most part, their billionaire backers approve of Donnie and his crap, but if he does anything that really costs them money, they will be upset and that's the one thing he'll listen to.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to screw over the rest of us and billionaires still make money, so it's not much of a check, but it's something...

13. Except the billionaires might be as deluded as the rest of the fish, until it's too late.

Analogy: the master conman uses different promises and types of appeals for each type of "fish" he wants to hook. Each fish is so focused on thinking the "bait" is really exactly what they want, they ignore all the other types of bait the conman is putting out for the other fish.

Sound familiar? (why did TSF's rants make no sense to us, and his promises keep shifting? - different baits for different fish)

Billionaires may have more leverage but if they don't see the damage coming before it's too late, then they can't stop it either.

I see no reason to think that billionaires have so much more foresight than the rest of us. Sure they are better at getting rich (maybe just due to having fewer moral constraints), but the fact that these billionaires backed TSF when some of his promises are completely nuts economically (and amid afore mentioned conflicting promises), makes me think they focused on their bait a bit too much.

And given that the bait for many of these guys was fewer environmental regulations - if they get their way at all, future generations really are truly f*cked. It was bad enough at the glacial pace that those who see and care about the problem could get anything done. If those paltry regulations get tossed, who knows what will be in our food and water.

The inaction and the drill baby drill greed of trumps administration will really fuck us up. People are displaced by war, poverty, and climate factors in all continents. Where are they to go?

I just assume whatever we imagine is going to happen is probably not as bad personally for us as we think it will be. But it will be very, very bad nonetheless.

Half the country knows he is destructive and the other half is clueless.... I think this administration to come will awaken the MAGAS as they too will suffer. This just might unite the nation...we will change our country for the better but not without running thru the fire.

"Being There"

The third grade level of cognitive capability that Chauncey had is about what tramp actually has. How prescient. Life imitates art.
.

Trump as ‘evil Chauncey Gardiner’, referring to the 1979 comedy-drama film Being There. In it, the main character, the simple-minded Chance the Gardener is elevated to great positions of importance by people who mistook his simple proverbs about gardening for deep political wisdom. According to Harris’ metaphor, Trump too is a simpleton who was brought to power by people who see more in him than he actually is, but he’s also evil in his view.
