(475 posts)I understand a person being unhappy when oil companies raise gas prices for record profits, even if they can't understand why these things happen.
I don't understand people who deny the most basic and well-proven facts.

(6,783 posts)For example, when the Scarecrow got his brain from the Wizard, he said:
"The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side."
edhopper
(35,234 posts)it's a right triangle. But Scarecrow is forgiven because he just got the diploma.

(71,284 posts)...of course, but the scarecrow also says square root, but square is correct.
So, he got two things wrong.
Basically, he got a brain and still didn't understand anything.
I'll give him a pass. He's a scarecrow!

(10,107 posts)This is our country and a lot of the world now. No joke.
One very important loss is the understanding and agreement on the fact that an argument needs to meet certain criteria to be valid. 99% of their arguments are invalid. But they don't agree.
It is so disheartening and I just can't see a way back from this rejection of sanity.
