I went for an icy walk early am in the dark. I was enjoying myself until I saw a huge flag pole with the regular US flag and a psycho flag below. This house has never had a flag or any political signs in many years. And it was not there even last week. So why now? Because they feel safe now to show their fascist hatred and dominance, now that the psycho will be taking over soon.
When I see the American flag now I think that is the flag of a fascist country. Seeing it so close by when there have been none which included the psycho flag for over 2 years was truly awful.

(12,155 posts)I know it's awful now to see our flag most have a trump flag waving below it.

(6,120 posts)That house has never had any flags or anything there before either. There was another house on my route that used to have an even bigger flagpole with huge, dump flags & signs, etc. HUGE flags, not the American flag. Then finally maybe over two years ago they took it all down. And it has never come back up.

(3,157 posts)flag fascist but that's just me.
I do find a Trump flag very distasteful and very unamerican, but again, that's just me 😊😊😊😁

(6,120 posts)I am not a flag person and I have always associated excessive use of and obsessiveness about flags with fascism because of my background
so its obvious to me whats going on here. After the election while driving to the stores I saw a little car with enormous American flags, which is illegal I think, and I thought immediately that is now a fascist flag,
you have elected a fascist who murdered millions of Americans again so yes, thats what it represents to me now and also the flag of the country that murdered my father.
If someone does something to stop this then maybe my feeling may change, but I doubt it. Its always going to be a revulsion on some level that I feel now when seeing it. Particularly if its an enormous flag in a car driving around. That is a sign of fascism. I have never seen anything like that phenomenon here until the first time the orange psycho was running.

(268 posts)About twenty-five years ago, I put the American flag in a holder on a tree at the top of my driveway. A woman I knew said she didn't realize I was a Republican. I asked her why she thought I was. She said because I was flying the American flag. I told her, of course, that I am not Republican, but a life-long Democrat. "They" seem to corrupt everything good.
Its the same here. Its always Republicans that have flown a flag at their house. I have never known a Democrat to do that. Although there may be some if they are Veterans, etc., at one point, my father wanted to fly a Canadian flag at our house but I stopped him lol 😹

(6,120 posts)For the most part, I have nothing against somebody flying a flag. But obviously now we know what it means its just not something I would normally do. One of our neighbors has a flag up every other week. I have no clue why because they are not veterans or anything, but they seem to know every holiday when youre supposed to be flying a flag. That kind of obsessiveness is just weird to me.

(53,257 posts)have my Harris/Walz signs in my porch window and front yard. I intend to keep them up for the next 4 years.
I had to endure red hats and TSF flags for years, so the signs stay.

(29,054 posts)Never saw a single Trump lawn sign. The day after the election I drove into work and this one house that I always thought looked a bit like a compound (metal fencing all around, no landscaping) was flying the US flag and under it was a huge flag that said God, Guns, and Trump. They bought a flag before the election but were obviously not brave enough to fly it outside before the election. Two elderly white people were the first folk Id ever seen on the property. Damn right, they feel emboldened. It was disgusting and I feel so bad for their Black neighbors who have to see that shit every day.

(6,120 posts)But they would still have had to spend money for a gigantic flag pole and the US flag if they didnt have it before which I doubt they did because Ive never seen a flag there ever.

(293 posts)I live in the rural South, and I'm surrounded by racist whites flying those colors (US and Confederate flags). Ever notice Grand Wizard Trump's favorite costume is Red, White and Blue? I rest my case.
To paraphrase J. Krishnamurti: The flag is a rag.*

Meowmee
(6,120 posts)As I often call him
have you seen them? They make huge flags for him that are sort of like the campaign signs and people fly them with the US flag.
I dont really like calling him the orange psycho because orange is one of my favorite colors.
