I hadnt seen this story here. HOURS of firing.
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) A Florida man was killed by a Volusia Sheriffs Office sniper after he reportedly fired more than 200 rounds at neighboring condos over several hours on Thanksgiving morning, authorities said.
This is Ormond-by-the-Sea. We leave our windows open at night and our doors open at night, Jason Valiant, who lives in the condos, told WESH. Weve never seen anything like this.
In 37 years, I dont think Ive ever had an experience where I had to position snipers and say, You have a green light to do your job,' Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
There was no negotiating with this guy, Chitwood said. My objective was to make sure every single deputy went home for Thanksgiving dinner.

(38,599 posts)The shooter, Joseph DiFusco Jr. (DOB 10/12/1968), was a military veteran, a convicted felon out of his home state of Connecticut, and the subject of a pending ex parte order in Volusia County due to a series of extreme mental health episodes that included delusions, hallucinations, manic behavior, and threats to his wifes and daughters lives.
Following the incident, two Thompson submachine guns, a .45 caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun were recovered from inside DiFuscos condominium.

I'ts a nightmare every day.
Where does one get a Tommy gun these days? Certainly not at your local gun shop or sporting goods store. Gun shows, not likely since they are not generally legal to own. Private sales? Prices for them according to the internet are several thousand to 10K+.

But a fat .45 slug coming your way is no laughing matter.

(25,494 posts)Not sure why. Mild paranoia I guess. Lived in Southern California in the 70's as a kid and there were always creepy stories on the news.
Also I was reading about a serial killer a few years ago and he said that he NEVER broke into a house. It was always through an unlocked window or door. Plus if he saw signs of a dog, like a bumper sticker or water bowl, he would do a hard pass.
