The president is Commander and Chief. He can order US troops to be stationed anywhere in the world.

I doubt the Supreme Court would consider that an illegal order. They can step in on a Courts-Martial if the person convicted files for clemensy.

So, Trump can do it. It is legal for him to do it, the courts would be fine with it and the troops would have to go to Russia....or wherever.....to fight for mother Russia.

I expect a lot of UAs and AWOLs maybe even desertions from the military the moment they get their orders.

Trump is pals with Erik Prince no doubt. It might just be easier for Trump to loot our treasury, like Cheney did, and pay off some mercenaries to fight. But the Intercept reported that Prince has offered his services as a subcontractor to Russian Wagner group's activities in Mozambique and Libya. So, Erik may already be in the thick of things in Russia's wars.

A Ukrainian neighbor of ours was a combat soldier during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. He was in a unit with 16 Ukrainians and 100 Russians. He has told us of one time when they were attacked by the Mujaheddin. The 100 Russians fled, and left the 16 Ukrainians to fend off the attack by themselves (which they did, or our friend would not be here to tell the tale).

checked, which specifically stated "noncombatants" and "civilians". But use the definition you choose. ***I*** have never heard "massacre" used to define the killing of armed combatants. YMMV. Last week, for example, we observed the anniversary of the Sand Creek Massacre, where over 150 Indigenous women, children, and old men were killed. Also last week, over 7,000 ruzzian and north korean soldiers died in putin's illegal war of conquest.

including the OED and Merriam-Webster. The closest to the word "civilian" i saw was the word "helpless". I am not disputing that massacres have happened/are happening. Just that i am unable to find a definition that specifically uses the word Civilians (or non-combatants, for that matter) in it. Where, might i ask, did you find your definition?
