This is bad. South Korean president declares martial law because of North Korean sympathizers in the parliament.

It sounds like they're trying to use his wife to tear down his popularity, much the way that our Right tried to take down Biden's popularity with Hunter.

South Korean president declares emergency martial law, accusing opposition of anti-state activities

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.

Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing, vowing to “eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the constitutional democratic order.” It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

Yoon — whose approval rating has dipped in recent months — has struggled to push his agenda against an opposition-controlled parliament since taking office in 2022.

Yoon’s conservative People Power Party had been locked in an impasse with the liberal opposition Democratic Party over next year’s budget bill. He has also been dismissing calls for independent investigations into scandals involving his wife and top officials, drawing quick, strong rebukes from his political rivals.

For example: The Orange menace could go full fascist because of a couple Congress people supporting Gaza.

This scrapes the bottom of the fear and blame barrel.

It’s because of parliamentary opposition to his own agenda.

Let’s be warned.

the more suspicious I am that it is what you are saying in your post.

This is very bizarre and unsettling, and unexpected to say the least.

I don’t think so. A few sympathizers are subject to constitutional processes. Martial law is violence, chaos, illegality and destruction of the constitution.

And the leader of NK is a megalomaniac that most non-Trumpers fear? right?

SK lives in constant preparation for imminent warfare from the North. It is not a war that will be instigated by the SK, but they will resist being overpowered. Their young men sign up for two years military training, which they can do at any time during a designated period in their teens and twenties.

South Korea has a vibrant capitalist society, which albeit is traditionally patriarchal, but that has been their history. North Korea is Communist and their people are mostly living in impoverished villages.

So, a short-term martial law is understandable assuming there is anything truly going on in parliament.

It almost sounds like preparation for a political purge.

Parliament has been sealed--but it's not clear whether politicians have been sealed inside or barred from entering.

This is all the world needs... I hope this isn't another democracy in crisis.

23. SUMMARY OF THE CRAZY EVENTS IN SOUTH KOREA:

This incident is truly strange

1) The president of South Korea expected an impeachment from the opposition.

2) To prevent that, he declared martial law banning all political activity!

3) The Korean army came and closed off the parliament to prevent MPs to come in and vote!

4) Korean MPs climbed over the fence and made their way to the parliament, breaching the block!

5) The special forces tried to storm the parliament, to stop the “political activity”

6) The parliament was as able to vote, and they voted unanimously to lift the martial law and lift all restrictions!

7) The army not know what to do first, decided to abide by the parliament and left!

8) Martial law will remain in place in South Korea until the president issues a decree to lift it.

The president is constitutionally obliged to lift martial law after a decision by parliament.

9) The South Korean president is expected to be arrested and impeached, according to media reports.

-> The opposition and the people won, by sneaking into the parliament and voting!
