Unless we seriously reform the party. Our values and policy platform are good. The execution however is really poor. I wish our politicians would have the same fighting spirit as the right wingers do.
Whenever one of them is in trouble they close rank and don't take shots at each other.
We democrats can't seem to stick to the script. The latest episode criticizing president Biden for pardoning his son is shameful.
Abandon the stupid high road and fight for the values you claim to hold. Many people i have spoken to have told me they don't vote for democrats because they never fight for them.
As a result they end up being bamboozled by the Republicans who have horrible policies but project strength. It's especially true for those who don't follow politics closely.

(47,586 posts)Not everyone agrees with every issue, and some issues are unpopular with independents and alien to even moderate Republicans. But if we lead with unpopular issues it doesn't help us at all.
Republicans have quite an advantage because all their issues have one issue at its base: money. Money for them.
Until we elevate justice, equity into one big overriding theme, we won't match Republican enthusiasm.

(12,386 posts)tRUMP gets plenty of news coverage taking credit for everything under the sun. Shameless GQP congress critters go on TV tooting their own horn for federal programs which they voted against (and the clueless masses buy it).
Democrats seem to not take credit for getting things done nearly as much, partly, I believe, because they're too busy getting even more stuff accomplished. Democrats need to get better at grabbing publicity whenever and wherever it's available.

(2,381 posts)once again be successful as the party adapts. Trump is a setback, not a failure.
It starts by more careful examination of policy adaptation, and that starts by admitting the mistakes so they can be corrected. This will happen. You may not see it spoken directly, but it will happen in the background over time.
This also includes abandoning the refusal to accept popular opinion that we disagree with. It includes dialing down the rhetoric. It includes many more things that appeal to more centrist voters. That is how we will win again. Those who are unwilling to compromise will be our hindrance.
