It's a powerful indicator of how deep he's into it. The worst lies he tells are the ones he tells himself about how he can "stop drinking at any time".

don't even know about. We only know about the things he was either caught in or where people came forward. We don't know about what he got away with or who is too scared to come forward. I have no doubt that there are people who don't want thousands of MAGA lunatics after them on an hourly basis for the rest of their lives.

They don't just quit drinking. I have been around them. The only way they quit is to get expensive treatment. First, that involves a threat of disbarment, losing a job, losing a medical license, or something similar. They have to go through the DTs and dry out. Then they need therapy to address the reasons they were drinking in the first place. Without the therapy they will be a dry drunk, which means they continue the alcoholic behaviors without the alcohol.

strip joints etc. If I get to run the DOD. Seems like a reasonable trade off in the dystopian nightmare world we’re living in. I mean he can still grift and steal from the huge budget. We can’t the expect the guy to give up all his vices.

My mom got sober when I was in my early teens through AA, so in the ensuing years I was around many active and recovering alcoholics. I went to a lot of open meetings, Al-Anon, and Alateen meetings and learned a lot about the disease and those that suffer from it. They come from from every walk of life, every socio-economic group, every ethnicity and gender, you name it. One thing ties every last one of them together though. I've heard it straight from my mother, I've heard from countless speakers at meetings: They'll lie to your face about their drinking, and lie to themselves about their drinking. It's an integral part of the disease, and what makes it one of the harder aspects of it to overcome. It's why one often has to hit an absolute rock bottom before the seek help because they lie to themselves and everyone around them about what is really happening to them.

Everything I've seen reported about Hegseth indicates he's an active alcoholic. That means he's lying as we speak. Period. It's just part of the disease, and part of who he is right now. For that one fact alone he has no business being at the helm of any government agency, let alone as Sec Def.
