biden should step down, let kamala be president so she can pardon him

in order that trump freaks do not go after him!

this was just suggested by a caller ("drew" ) on thom hartmann's show.

thom said he thought that was the best reason he has heard for biden stepping down.

i think it's a pretty good idea too.

what say du?

on edit: i just don't want joe to have to go thru their trumpublican shit for the rest of his life. he doesn't deserve it.

Burdick v. United States said that a person was not required to accept a pardon because doing so could raise an inference that they were guilty. However, accepting a pardon is not a legal admission of guilt or the equivalent of a guilty plea. Nixon accepted his pardon without ever admitting a thing.

I wish he would do it though so the US could get over the deal about a woman president! Rip that bandaid off and put her in the office she worked so hard for. Maybe do if on New Years Eve so we have something to celebrate! Icing on the cake would be disrupting T’s numbering sequence. That would be total sads about his merchandise.

I have wondered about whether the president can self-pardon. I don't know and am not a constitutional scholar. I did take Constitutional Law II as an undergrad but we didn't get into this issue.

I don't think our system should permit a president to self-pardon. I don't doubt that Trump will try to do so and who will stop him?

It would also enshrine the Democrats as having the first female/Asian/Black President. And one day, Kamala would be the only SCPTUS Justice who was once President of the USA. She could pardon ALL of Biden's staff pm Trump's hit list.

It would be funny to make Trump have to reprint everything he has 47 on. On Biden pardoning himself, this is an interesting idea.

If Biden pardons himself, would Trump, once he takes office, direct the Justice Department to file suit claiming Biden doesn't have the power to do that. The case would go to the Supreme Court who would rule in Trump's favor.

With the Supreme Court win, Trump would then be unable to grant himself a pardon thereby putting himself in jeopardy when his term is over or whenever Vance uses the 25th Amendment on him.

On a side note, if Trump is going to do away with some of the cabinet positions (principals), all that does is lower the majority number needed for Vance to declare Trump unable to discharge his duties.
