My values remain unchanged. I am not so sure about our leaders.

I will hold some reservation until the shit hits the fan but

Working with trump on judicial appointments
The deafening silence of our leaders
The support by some of them to pardon this mfer! Wteverlovinghell?
The disrespect to Joe regarding him pardoning his son like there is some moral equivalency between his action and Trump.

I am getting angry.

Something isn't right. I'm getting the feeling that some people previously worth of our admiration are shifting into the "go along to get along" mode. Okay, historically that certainly happens under authoritarians and dictators.

I'm not even quite able to articulate my level of agitation--I'm not panicking yet, but I'm watching everything extremely closely and not liking a lot of what I'm seeing.

If what some of us think is unfolding actually IS unfolding, my next question is where do they think their next tranche of financial support will come from? Or are the voters no longer that important now that corporations basically finance elections?

It has clearly been Biden for the past four years, but he is not the future. Neither are the Clintons or Obamas. Harris has virtually disappeared, and I can understand a retreat for a bit, but is she coming back? We have some excellent state governors, but no one of them is our leader. Who is out there on the news shows, on social media, writing opinions saying that we heard voters’ concerns about inflation, on migrants, on workers’ rights?

Our party could have a lot to say right now about healthcare, the historically low inflation and unemployment rates, the manufacturing jobs created with details about where, how the investments of the last four years are paying off. If Democrats fail to get any messages out, Trump and Republicans will simply take credit for everything this administration accomplished.

The silence is deafening. And I still do not know who our leader is. I believe it should be Harris, but she needs to get busy soon or she will become a footnote in history..

By the time the MAGAs wake up it will be too late to blame Biden. Then they will realize they have been screwed. That's when things will get interesting. Sometimes you just have to let the laws of nature take their course. In the meantime take care of yourself.

Yes, I hate the way the Democrats cave. We aren't fighting the same at all even with elections, look what they are doing there to make certain people don't vote. They are fighting dirty at all levels.

When we vote for people we need to find out who we in fact are voting in. Maybe we need a litmus test for that but also we'll likely be sacrificing other great attributes but the diplomat in Congress just isn't working anymore.

I just saw your post you linked to that was a great one.

Ford pardoned Nixon under the pretense of "healing the nation," but that's a distant memory with no bearing on today's world. Pardoning Trump would do nothing but prove to him and his fuckhead KKKultists that he has carte blanche to do literally anything he wants with no consequences, blowback or accountability.

Fuck him and anyone who calls for his pardon.

I don't watch news anymore on tv for the most part and read online mostly so I may have missed it. But I find the calls to pardon orange psycho for anything to be the worst and just "unbelievable". On some level I knew this type of thing would happen due to fascism etc., in the media and politics, but pardon him? That is just insanity imo.

I don't know how they think their voters etc. could accept that ever. I guess those who are saying it openly at least who are not that many so far, as far as I am aware anyway, just don't care anymore about what people think.

It is not only the worst thing they could do imo, it also shows an utter lack of respect and caring for the voters/supporters and especially those who have been severely harmed by that psycho. It also shows a lack of respect for the law and constitution etc. that they claim to uphold imo.

* Edited to add that it could be due to panic on their part or denial of what he really is. This denial we see in the media for the most part, and elsewhere is what I find most crazy, the normalization of the fact that you have put a lunatic in charge "again" who could destroy everything as we know it.

It feels like being on a ship without a rudder or something like that.
