The opening scene in the Godfather - the undertaker proclaims "I believe in America"

i used to feel that way too. with all my heart.

but after seeing what has been done and what is coming I can no longer say, feel or believe that.

We are completely fucked.

I'm to the point, and have been for a while, where America is a relative I still love but would rather not be around because of the way they behave.

And all the other compassionate, good people in the US.

Times are a-changin' and if you are anywhere near me in age (70) we are having our last little fling and saying goodbye as the next set of generations take the reins.

I believe in the vague concept of a 'National Consciousness'. What made America great in the past - it's drive, it's nerve, it's not-giving-a-damn .... is becoming its downfall. Sometimes I think the country as a whole cannot separate movies from reality.

Accept what you can't change. Stoicism has many benefits.
