(16,275 posts)I dont think moving right, left or staying the same matters much. We need to start building up a similar media ecosystem like the right has. We need armies of trolls and bots pounding our message on social media. We need many more popular podcasters, YouTubers, and TikTokers.

(103,103 posts)Come on, the Democrats have celebrity backers... why can't we enlist them to help get the message out?

(65,116 posts)I understand that we're badly outspent by the billionaires, who hire clever people who know how to get into the heads of people to confuse and misinform. Still, if we're going to be on the side of the angels, we have to fight, and those fights between good and evil are always one-sided.
I think we can do better at messaging. Short sentences. Big promises. Stay out of the weeds. Fight back - immediately and hard - against GOP messaging.

(103,103 posts)Shit, the republicans control nearly all the networks, podcasts, and social media. They have a monopoly on nearly all talk radio stations and broadcast TV (not satellite). They have three 24/7 continuously operating "news" channels that broadcast their propaganda. They also have a monopoly on the churches and political conventions. Like I keep saying, we're bringing kitchen knives to a war that's being fought with rocket launchers and sub machine guns. We have to do something to combat this.

(10,411 posts)Which should be really fucking easy. But apparently not if the past month has been any indication. Feels like everyone's on a double or nothin streak for the past decade with this stuff.
And it seems like the current favored political strategy is, "Maybe if Republicans really screw up, they'll vote for us again!" Which is actually a reasonable expectation. Our party taking Congress in '26 and the Presidency in '28 are realistic consequences of people watching Trump in action.
It's just depressing that that seems to be the entire measure of the strategy. "Change nothing. Wait until something really bad happens. Profit."
What a hopeful, inspiring vision.
