No women in combat? There it is.

(22 posts)Is he drinking too much of his own Kool-Aid or Faux Noise's? The Bush Administration set up a precedent in this country to gaslight the American people into sending its poorest, youngest, most vulnerable citizens (and undocumented peoples) to the front lines for false pretenses. We elected presidents to stop us from perpetuating us into forever occupations of foreign countries. If someone is willing to put themselves out there and sacrifice themselves for their country, does it make any sense to discriminate them and stop them from doing it?

This is the context for that quote about women in the military.
Wilson is the pastor of the Christian Nationalist, war-mongering, misogynistic, bigoted Christian sect Hegseth belongs to.
Wilson holds the most extreme views of womens submission found in any form of Christianity, Julie Ingersoll, a religious studies professor at the University of North Florida, told Salon. Women are taught that submission to their husbands (and other male authorities) is submission to God. Independence of any kind is cast as sin.

(12,972 posts)He proudly announced on a Fox show that he hadn't washed his hands in ten years! He probably thinks that's something only "weak" people do. The pathological fear of appearing weak should be the biggest red flag for a prospective Sec. of Defense. Think of how much trouble that could get us into! Yet in terms of strength, he fails to understand how much stronger women and LGBTQ folks have had to be just to live their everyday lives in peacetime.
