Republicans take aim at subsidies that help tens of millions of women

As they prepare to take control of the White House and Congress next month, conservatives are eyeing cutbacks to federal programs that help tens of millions of women pay for healthcare, food, housing and transportation.

Slashing or overhauling social support programs, long a goal of Republican lawmakers, could be catastrophic for women experiencing poverty. Supporters contend the social safety-net programs are already grossly underfunded.

While conservatives frame cuts as making government more efficient and even restoring freedom, advocates for and experts on families with little or no income say reducing these programs will throw more people – especially women and children – further into poverty.

Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for the incoming administration, denies its proposed changes will harm women, saying instead that marriage and “family values” will improve their economic situations. “Marriage, healthy family formation, and delaying sex to prevent pregnancy are virtually ignored in terms of priorities, yet these goals can reverse the cycle of poverty in meaningful ways,” reads the section on proposed changes to TANF and Snap.

The MAGA movement never hid their disdain towards women. It was right there in full view. The next four years are going to be heartbreaking, painful and insulting.

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

I remember being just a kid and hearing this at church. I was shocked then that grown able women were listed as property. (It was pretty clear that those manservants and maidservants weren’t living in that household because they wanted to.) Why any woman would vote for people with this world view to take control is beyond me.

…Evangelical from everybody else. The educated from the uneducated? Very very important. Oh yes, and did I mention dividing men from women?

So what are we going to do about this? Look at each other with disgust? Resentment is the new coin of the realm, after all.

They want us to be dependent on individual men and the laws made by male legislatures — our personal likes, dislikes, and safety are not an issue.

What MAGAS fail to see is that men tied to women with no access to contraception are going to be impoverished as well. The morons and bros only see the subjugation of women to themselves, they don’t envision their own subjugation to an economic system with no safety net left.

from them as is stated in the article in the OP.

...denies its proposed changes will harm women, saying instead that marriage and “family values” will improve their economic situations. “Marriage, healthy family formation, and delaying sex to prevent pregnancy are virtually ignored in terms of priorities, yet these goals can reverse the cycle of poverty in meaningful ways,”

They've pushed marriage as THE means for getting women out of poverty for decades.

They did it under Reagan, Bush, and Bush.

This is NOT something new because of Trump.

They blame women for being single parents. A man is the answer and not opportunities for women.

They've justified denying food (school lunches) to children because their parents made wrong choices in their eyes.

They've treated poverty as a choice and as proof of people being inferior.

They've viewed poverty as punishment for not living as they say you should live.

Discounting cruel policies that contributed to creating both new poverty and generational poverty.

Discounting racism, sexism, homophobia, classism and other bigotries. Lack of opportunity in education, jobs, housing, etc..

They see themselves as the ones teaching people to fish (so they can eat forever) but then they put a fence around the water and charge for fishing. If they even allow people near the water that's now owned by the wealthy.

Clearly, these monsters expect women to have to marry to receive any kind of basic needs being met.
Are the Talibornagains going to teach men how to be kind and loving instead of brutal tyrants? And I guess any woman who doesn't want to be a sperm incubator and unpaid domestic slave can just starve to death, or end up being a street walker in the rampant explosion of prostitution and porn industry that will result when any kind of equal opportunity is denied to women.
Men complain about women going to court and taking them " to the cleaners " when there is a divorce, but it never occurs to them that women wouldn't need to do that if we could get jobs with a livable wage, affordable housing and health care, decent child care, etc. But of course we can't have that. Agolf Shitler said the authors of Project 2025 clearly think that women aren't human. We're just property, that men can murder and dispose of when they want a newer and younger model.
I mean, women are just way out of line, it's too much to ask for men to learn how to be worthy of relationships or marriage.

I'm going to quote one of Terry Pratchett's characters: " the real sin, young man, is when you treat other people as things ". Granny Weatherwax
