Breaking on CNN: South Korean President being Arrested Now

The headline is Investigators Arrive At South Korean President's Residence To Carry Out Arrest Warrant

Apparently, there is a standoff. High Drama in SK.

Edited to add that I subscribe to KBS America and tuned to their local news. It's a madhouse there. I am watching the live coverage there but unfortunately for me there are no English subtitles.

South Korea and Brazil have the right idea as they too did with Bolsonaro. Lock them up and make them suffer the consequences for their illegal conduct.

No more too big, too rich, too powerful to drag their assess into court and then jailed.

What an American travesty that this criminal thug found his way back into the White House to pilfer and plunder the US Treasury once again.

How fucked up is that ?

I would not want to live in Pakistan..but YMMV...

Their most recent election:
Highly controversial general elections were held on 8 February 2024. The elections were contested for rigging, and Shehbaz Sharif was again elected as prime minister with the support of the MQM-P, BAP, PMLQ, IPP, NP and PMLZ, as well as confidence and supply from Pakistan Peoples Party.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shehbaz_Sharif

He held his office until 12 October 1999 when was removed from the post of Chief Minister in the 1999 Pakistani coup d'état.

In 2003, an anti-terrorism court summoned Shehbaz and five others accused in alleged extrajudicial killings in 1998. He was in the exile at that time and failed to show-up to the court. Later, the court issued an arrest warrant for Shehbaz.[22][23] In 2004, Shehbaz attempted to return to Pakistan to appear before the court, but was forcibly deported back to Saudi Arabia.[16][23]

Investigators with South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) have arrived to enforce an arrest warrant for the country’s impeached president at his residence in Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported on Friday morning local time.

President Yoon Suk Yeol is wanted for questioning in multiple investigations, including accusations of leading an insurrection – a crime punishable by life imprisonment or even the death penalty – after he suddenly declared martial law in early December.

A court on Tuesday approved the warrant for Yoon – the first time such a move has been taken toward a sitting president, deepening a dramatic showdown between investigators and the president. In response, the presidential security team said that “(s)ecurity measures will be taken in accordance with due process for matters related to the execution of warrants.”
South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol speaks to the nation at the Presidential Office in Seoul, South Korea on December 7, 2024.

The leader was stripped of his presidential powers last month by a parliamentary vote to impeach him, which came after some members of his own ruling party turned on him following his refusal to resign over his short-lived decree...
