Do we really need outside help? Very appreciated but, why? There are no firefighters in other states?

to fight this disaster. Ukraine’s act of solidarity is a good thing. I’m mystified by this thread.

I just am flabbergasted that we, the US can't muster enough people to do the firefighting and aid work. At least the aid work.
I think the US should have a group, more flexible than FEMA to take care of emergency services like this and for hurricanes. But this stuff is up to younger folks.

We're sending them billions of dollars, and they're spending some to fly to the US and fight fires. Does not seem efficient or effective use of funds.

I understand it ias a diplomatic show of solidarity. None the less...

America has gone it alone time & time again with no help from other Countries or them even offering to help with the exception of 911.

Do we need Ukraine's help? No. Should we accept Ukraine's? Yes. That's what friends & partners do.

To even bring this subject up is well...

Bangladesh always offered aid, despite their own poverty and frequent need of international aid. It's a statement about who they want to be in the world. I always admired that about them. It's less about what they are able to send and all about their willingness to send what they can.

I don't think Ukraine's offer is trolling at all. I think it is an offer in this same spirit. It should be accepted as such.
