"SNIP..........

“Colombia will not accept deportation flights from the United States until the Trump administration provides a process to treat Colombian migrants with ‘dignity and respect,’ the country’s president, Gustavo Petro, said on Sunday,” the New York Times reports.

..........SNIP"

CNN Trump enacts tariffs on the (mostly) food that Columbia exports to the USA: 25% then 50% Tariffs in a week.

Colombia doesn't resume accepting migrant flights in one week, the tariff will rise to 50 percent.

Now it's not just egg prices -- could be our coffee, too.

All of it.

A good deal of Dunkin, too, though they have more diversified sourcing across Central and South America.

by about $4 billion.

Two of the major things that we buy from them are crude and coffee.

Gee, I wonder what massively populated country in the world could pick up the slack on those exports?

Bogotá, January 26, 2025. The Government of Colombia confirms its participation in the Extraordinary Assembly of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), convened for next January 30. This meeting will be an opportunity to address strategic issues for the region, such as cooperation on migration, the protection of human rights and the strengthening of relations between member countries. In preparation for this summit, conversations have been held with Honduras, the country that holds the presidency of CELAC, in order to promote a regional approach to migration challenges and guarantee conditions of dignity for the citizens of the region.

At the same time, the Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights. This measure responds to the Government's commitment to guarantee decent conditions. In no way have Colombians, as patriots and subjects of rights, been or will be banished from Colombian territory.
