I’m not wishing to step on anyone’s free speech here. I just want to say that I’m astounded at the number of posts that feature X/Twitter links. It makes me upset given the outrageous times we are living in. I look at how the Canadian people have pulled together, canceling vacations (some at a very hefty expense), going without certain products, and making do. Here, we can’t even stay off X, not even on DU of all places!!!
How do you all feel about this?

(68,099 posts)I also like to keep track of what the enemy is saying and doing.
This has zero to do with my admiration, respect and good will for Canadians or any other wonderful countries.

Post links and do so on DU of all places. It was a comparison, that’s all.
Anyone can keep up with what’s going on at Bluesky. And many of the posts aren’t even political.
Whatever. Just curious where people stand.

(9,631 posts)3 American doctors in this hospital that was bombed by Israel today. Here is one American Dr posting on Twitter from Gaza.
“
“I was at Nasser Hospital in #Gaza when it was bombed today. One of my patients, a 17-year-old boy, was killed. He would have gone home tomorrow. If I had been changing his dressings, as I planned to this evening, I probably would have been killed too. Attacking hospitals is a war crime, and it needs to stop.”

I read there and post once in a while. There are some great people there. I never click on ads, I delete them. They used to show a dozen more after a delete. However there are few ads as he has lost all his sponsors. They are going down and I am happy to help with that.

Plus Apple just announced it’s coming back.

That's a bad thing to do.

people may not like this, but Twitter/X offers real time AND timely current events..
lots of news and political organizations utilize the site.
the site is also compatible when posting links, unlike Blue Sky and others.
I get so sick of hearing this bullshit over and over and over again.

(9,631 posts)People who criticize X are usually the ones who have spent little to no time on X. You will get news immediately- before any news organizations will and if you really want to see what’s actually happening in Gaza in real time - Twitter is your place. Lots of people and reporters in Gaza have cell phones and post daily.
Any questions that come to your mind- you can ask AI Groc 3 - you will get an answer plus published articles to read. I just asked Groc the direction of the plutonium cloud after the explosion at the Trinity site - and Groc tells me - “probably went over your property “ 😱
I think Dems made a HUGE mistake leaving X. 100,000,000 Americans are on Twitter and you want them all to be influenced by Republicans- not Democrats- hello.

(145 posts)When material is available on both Xitter and Blue Sky it makes sense to use the Blue Sky link. I have often seen Xitter links and gone to check if the Xitter poster is also on Blue Sky and have found that many are. Please use Blue Sky in such a case.
I continue to got to X/Twitter for several sources about Ukraine, but only if they are not on Blue Sky. I periodically check if they have moved off of X/Twitter.

Lots of Musk’s X supporters here.
We can agree to disagree then.

They support his platform X by using it and posting links on DU, they are consumers of Musk’s X. You may interpret that however you wish. If you feel it is outrageous to make this observation then that is certainly an opinion you are entitled to. Thank goodness that for the time being we live in a free speech country.

Is VP Harris a 'Musk supporter'?
Am I? You just called us that.
Also, you are not the DU gatekeeper, despite your attempts to take that power role and place it within your remit.

(693 posts)I wish everyone would get off X. Sponsors and all. It would be wonderful to see it go down in flames. Boycott is a form of protest and that’s what id like to see. I have no interest whatsoever in gaining power. As I said, I don’t want to quash free speech, at the same time I do not understand how critically thinking DUers continue to support Musk’s X given that he is dismantling our democracy and his behavior is clearly off. What part of Nazi salute do people not understand? I don’t get it at all. My original post was curious and the responses were pretty aggressive. I did not personally attack anyone.

I have a bluesky account but still use twitter. When possible, I post both the bluesky and twitter links to articles/material that I post on DU. DU does not show the bluesky material yet and so I prefer twitter for now. I like my posts to show the underlying article and not just a link that does not tell you anything about the material in the link. If and when the BlueSky links work, I will be happy to drop twitter links
