Ireland has issued a travel warning for the US, highlighting potential risks for its citizens traveling abroad. Travel advisories are periodically updated by governments to address safety concerns. These warnings aim to inform citizens about current situations in particular destinations, helping them make informed decisions and stay safe during their travels.

“Nobody in their right mind should travel to the U.S. It is a dangerous country that might disappear you for something you said or did... or for no reason at all.”

(36,431 posts)They seem to be targeting people in this country legally (green card, asylum, normal travel) who have quirks (missed appointments with INS, misdemeanor charges - even if dismissed, carrying business equipment with them, engaging in political (international) speech).
While I wouldn't advise any of my trans/non-binary friends to come to the US because it is a crappy place to be right now for anyone who is a sexual minority - particularly for any transgender individuals, I haven't specifically heard of any tourist elated anti-trans enforcement. (Yes, they are messing with passports for US travelers - but I haven't heard of any passport issues for non-US citizens).
And - so far - it is mostly trans/non-binary individuals who are bearing the brunt of the animosity.
That personal assessment (as a lesbian) may not last more than 24 hours, but for now I don't think being LGBBTQI raises the official (i.e. government-related) travel risk.

(64,131 posts)Canadian and European visitors have been detained under harsh conditions before being deported. That is the main driver of the travel advisories.
The travel advisories say straighten out any conflict with the new "there are two genders" rule with a U.S. embassy before traveling.

(36,431 posts)in connection with LGBTQI identity. They are detaining people right now - and keeping them under harsh conditions, away from their legal counsel and friends/relatives they need to be in touch with. But, as of now, they do not seem to be targeting non-US citizens who are LGBTQI on entry for identity reasons. (I actually haven't heard of any who have been swept up for other reasons - but at least I'm not seeing LGBTQI targeting on entry.
Certainly there are very valid reasons for LGBTQI individuals not to be coming to the US right now. There are valid reasons for any thinking, caring, individual to avoid the US right now. My point is just that the immigration issues, specifically, don't (yet) seem to be targeting non-US citizens who are LGBTQI.
