Another 22% say Trump has been “about the same” as they expected.
The new survey of 1,677 U.S. adults, which was conducted from March 20 to 24, finds the president struggling amid rising economic uncertainty to maintain the political momentum that greeted his reelection last November.
Immediately after Trump’s Nov. 5 victory, 51% of Americans told Yahoo News and YouGov that they approved of the way he had handled his first term in office, while 43% said they disapproved. But today those numbers are reversed, with more Americans disapproving (50%) than approving (44%) of the job that Trump is currently doing.
Likewise, more Americans now rate Trump unfavorably (52%) than favorably (44%) on a personal level. After the election, Trump’s favorable rating (49%) narrowly exceeded his unfavorable rating (48%).

He came right out and said he was going to use his second term to get revenge on anyone and everyone he thinks has wronged him in his life (which he thinks is everyone; the asshole takes everything personally.)
It's a little late, people, to being complaining that you've been had. The time to think about the horror of a second Trump term was before the election. If you voted for Trump anyway, eat shit and die.

Those numbers should be much, much lower.
I guess one hypothesis is that many simply do not pay attention; another is that a substantial portion are hateful; and a third is that there truly is a group primarily interested in their own financial situation, even though they are ignorant of how economics, inflation, etc. work. For the third, if things keep spiraling downward, eventually, they will disapprove.

(9,743 posts)The American welfare state (such as it is) and never felt the hunger, the fear and the ragged edge of desperation that so many people of previous generations who lived through the Great Depression and other hardships, that made a lot of them susceptible to right-wing BS—because they’d never lived through hard times or they assumed that the hardships would never find them.
This isn’t to say that enough Trump voters would have been smart enough not to vote for him—but his numbers would have been a lot lower.

(9,743 posts)chortling about the bright prospects for the Republican Party because so many people who lived through the Great Depression were dying off.
And to an extent, that proved true. I doubt nearly as many voters from that age cohort would have been buying the BS THE Conservative Movement is pushing now.

(433 posts)the rest of the right wing lie machine. The maga rubes live in a bubble impervious to facts, truth or reality. Because of this, no matter how bad things spiral downward, they will be told it was liberals or foreigners or the woke mind virus that made their lives miserable.

14% of Repubs are unsure.
84% of Democrats think he is a danger,

46% think is is a real danger to democracy
40% think he just likes to talk tough
14% are not sure.
So as long as these Republicans are still brain dead and listening to propaganda, Trump will continue to “carry on.” There will still be a huge percentage of Republicans that will pressure Republican lawmakers to stick with Trump and a good number of Republican thugs who will issue death threats (with their security details being pulled.
The fact we don’t hear much from the Bidens, the Clintons, the Obamas says they must be afraid. The Bidens and the Clintons no longer have secret service protection.

(5 posts)The guy's been a Russian asset for 40 years. He was the worst president in US history the first time, and the only one to be impeached twice. Then he's convicted of 34 counts of fraud and leads an attempted coup against the federal government--and lies and lies and lies and tells lewd stories and fakes sex with a microphone and says immigrants are eating pets and hands out Project 2025--so how could anyone possibly have seen this coming?
It would be hilarious if it weren't so heinous and disgusting and reprehensible.
BTW: I hear the dog formely known as the German shepherd will forthwith be known as the "American shepherd." Or they might just deport 'em all. Gotta get on Signal and group chat about it first.

(9,734 posts)They put him in a cage after the attack because they were afraid of the dog and now might have to euthanize him if there’s no expert on dog handling to take him. The owner was a cop who supposedly knew how to handle dogs.
So maybe calling them American Shepherds is appropriate. I have heard of too many attacks by those dogs. But I’m a cat person, so what do I know?
I might be a bit biased - I have seen 2 dog attacks, one was by a German Shepherd.

(846 posts)is occurring is insane.
If these 2 months are any indication, there's a real chance that they could potentially get most of us fucking killed by the end of the year. They sure as fuck don't need 4 of them. Being completely fascist and this incompetent is a recipe for the worst possible scenario occurring sooner rather than later.
Frankly, "Signalgate" has raised the chances of that significantly higher.

Worse than expected? Compared to what?
22% 'about the same' includes dems republicans and indies who think it's either hell on earth, or heaven, or a shoulder shrug.
And it is one single poll, and a single polls results need be corroborated with at least another reputable poll to gain credibility.
Yes the field average of recent reputable polls show trump approval slipping to the mid 40's, and this poll merely backs that up.
An extremely meaningless poll.
