650k more Ohioans voted for Donald Trump than Kamala Harris

...this is what they got out of that election this week:

Trump, USDA cuts 553,000 pounds of food for Greater Cleveland Food Bank: ‘Complete disappointment’

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The shelves of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank will be emptier after the U.S. Department of Agriculture quietly canceled 553,000 pounds of food that was expected to help those facing food insecurity.

The food bank learned on Tuesday that it is a victim once again of funding cuts under the Trump administration. Twenty semi-truck loads of food, worth $1 million, from the Emergency Food Assistance Program have been canceled.

Meanwhile, Warzocha said they must now hope for state support, but (republican) Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s proposed budget includes a significant reduction in food bank funding, cutting it from $32 million to $24.5 million— a decrease of $7.5 million.

USDA was supposed to spend $148 million of the $500 million early this year to buy dairy products, eggs, blueberries and more. But last month, the department notified state agencies that it was canceling solicitations from suppliers, according to a Feb. 20 email that Feeding America sent to its network of food banks and was viewed by POLITICO.

The emergency food assistance network gets its funding from a mix of money from the farm bill and through commodities USDA purchases. But the patchwork funding system has left the program unable to meet increasing hunger needs, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent years of food inflation, anti-hunger advocates say.

The Biden administration responded to the demand on food banks by supplementing the emergency assistance funding with roughly $2 billion from the CCC fund in 2022 and 2023, then the additional $500 million in 2024.

The clawbacks come as Congress is weighing shrinking the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which helps 40 million low-income Americans afford food. That could further exacerbate the pressure on food banks, which provide just one meal for every nine that SNAP supplies.

Now pat yourselves on the back for making sure your money does not go to help the poorer among you. Then ask Jesus to bless you for your treatment of His people.

Ohio is soon to be a shithole state, next to Alabama.

They believe in nothing, learn nothing, and contribute nothing much lately. They allow economic angst caused entirely by Republicans to be exploited by those same Republicans to inflict more pain on themselves and others. They refuse to remember anything.

You were once proud Americans, and Americans were once proud of you.

It happened in Iowa, too, when our Governor axed the summer food program for kids.

My brother worked there for a while way back, and it was not so bad then, but still right wing I think. Things have changed a lot. We went to museums and a great concert there too. I think it was in that museum there that there was a very beautiful ancient necklace on display... the skill from that time period was amazing and a sight to see.

I can't help suspecting that's why Trump chose Cleveland for this childish, petty stunt.

Yes, it served blue Cleveland, but also red Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland, and Richland counties.

They'd be speaking out about this -- from Harken through Grassley, protecting USDA funding has been too of mind because so much of the state's economy depends on the money it receives to support food banks, SNAP., and other food programs (many of which, honestly, are terribly unhealthy but are cash cows for the states(.
