(5,033 posts)The state capitol where it is being held here is just across the river from us. Finding parking might be difficult, and we could have to walk many blocks, but if we are able we will be there. We both WANT to be there!

(10,007 posts)I've been going to Sunday afternoon protests. It helps to deal with every horrific thing those fascists are doing to be in a crowd of equally outraged neighbors.

(265 posts)while in college in the late sixties/early seventies and here I am still at it. I started this year at a Martin Luther King march and event on Inauguration Day. April 5th Hands Off will be my 8th protest since. All of them have been really well attended with a wide span of ages represented. Lots of energy and resolve from everyone including the near constant horn honking and support from passing traffic. I keep seeing a young guy with a sign that says, “Shit is so Fucked Up that even the Introverts are out here”. One woman is always there with her stack of flyers explaining about oligarchs and hands them to people in the cars stopped at the lights. Surprisingly most people take them. When they roll down their window she says, “They’re not on your side; they don’t care about you.” There is always a group of young people there with bull horns leading chants. Their group is Collective Youth Activists For Change. The Immigrants Rights protest I was at was organized by a high school girl. Fight Ignorance, Not Immigrants. I am also on the lookout to join any protests that might pop up at our Social Security Office or Veterans Clinic. On we go, dear DUers - Insist! Resist! Persist!
