Trump's imperialist talk
Is Trump really going to try to annex Greenland?
Will Trump try to make Canada the 51st state? (Actually the 51st-60th, but Trump can't count.)
Is it true, as Trump told Congress, “We’ve already started doing it. We’re taking (the Panama Canal) back?"
Since each of these sovereign nations have publicly and forcefully rejected Trump's aggressive talk, how would Trump accomplish his stated goals?
These tariff tiffs are stupid, self-defeating and easily retaliated against. Trump's ideas of a trade war will hurt Americans up and down the economic ladder. More importantly. they will not influence those self-governing countries to acquiesce to Trump's bluster.
Accordingly, Trump's only alternative would be to use the military. This raises many questions, too numerous to list here but a few stand out.
Would the military obey orders to invade an allied and peaceful country? How would those countries react? (Who knew that Ukraine would keep Russia at bay for these past few years?!) Would we face opposition from NATO and the United Nations? How would Americans react? Would Americans support sending troops to die in a war of aggression?
Since the adage, "everything Trump touches dies," is true, will he completely destroy our once-almost-great nation?
Anyone who voted for Trump has a responsibility for this precarious state.
Anyone who did not vote has a responsibility for the dangers Trump presents.
Anyone who didn't understand Project 25 or Trump's history or Trump's obvious criminality (I mean you, SCOTUS) has a responsibility for the possibility of a coming world war which is the only way Trump could try to attain his imperialistic wet dreams.
Our future is fearful.
