It's big, but not that big. Here's Greenland superimposed on Africa:

The Mercator projection creates increasing distortions of size as you move away from the equator.
As you get closer to the poles the distortion becomes severe.

Cartographers refer to the inability to compare size on a Mercator projection as "the Greenland Problem."
Greenland appears to be the same size as Africa, yet Africa's land mass is actually fourteen times larger ....


Since I've grown to strongly suspect that when Trump talks about water resources, he assumes water flows towards the bottom of a map, I reckon no one's been able to convince him that Greenland's size isn't on a par with the US itself.
