They thought he would hurt “those other people,” not them.

I'm not seeing a change in the Magats in my circle of friends and family, and none of the posts like this I've seen have shown any real trend.
But I'll probably keep hoping and clicking.

(8,198 posts)in a over 15 points swing election probably do regret their votes for the convicted orange menace.
1000% !!!
I saw these types of 'they really regret it now!!' within the first week. It's total wishful thinking.

Believe it. We ignore this at our peril.

(64,252 posts)... that they regret their votes. They honestly thought he'd never do what he promised to do. I keep my opinion to myself, but our friendships have changed at least on my part.
Just so long as they pull their heads out of their nether regions and either vote their real interests or at least not vote as a protest to "politics".

(6,049 posts)... or will they just vote for the racist, bigoted, authoritarian party again when they get a new face and slap on a new coat of paint?

(64,252 posts)... moment, will the Mets go all the way this year?
The issue is we need to be in the moment. The idea of even considering all the what ifs is a colossal waste of effort. We are going forward. There is nothing worse they can do. They can be no more guilty of anything, there is nothing they can do to ameliorate the evil they've done.
No one is going to save us. We have to save our selves. There is nothing they can do make me more angry. We can't wait to threaten someone with a vote. Even if that is effective, we'll over a year and a half to pull the lever.
The question is not how much worse it'll get.
It's WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

(65,991 posts)What I'm hearing - second hand, admittedly, because I'm avoiding anyone who supported Trump - is a lame "I didn't vote for this."
Except, they did. Trump hasn't done anything he didn't promise to do. He was transparent. Too many people picked out the parts they liked about what he said, and ignored the rest.
Have they woken up to how gullible they are? Or how mean and hateful they are? I doubt it. I fear they'll vote for the next Trump.

(777 posts)They thought they were signing up for a domestic tyrant who wanted to harm minorities, not a foreign one who wanted to burn down the whole shebang. Never stop reminding them of their role in this.

(777 posts)I'm certain of it. These bastards are like Jeepers Creepers monsters of raw, absolute racial hatred. They're greedy, but once you get past that, they're power-hungry; but once you get past that...just racism as far as the eye can see.
It's all they are as beings. They'll give away their money if they can hurt the racial minorities they hate. They'll surrender power if they can hurt the racial minorities they hate. They'll destroy the future of their own children if they can hurt the racial minorities they hate.
It makes no sense to sane people, but that's what they are. That's the core of the Republican Party. That's what the Kremlin exploited in creating MAGA.

(777 posts)And racism is the most visceral for them, for whatever reason.
They love white supremacy so much, they're willing to die for it. E.g., the Civil War and WW2. Now they're willing to be foreign puppets just to get the power to enact their hatred.

(12,316 posts)but my older daughter is regretting her vote. She feels bad her sisters husband lost his job and other family members.
At her own job the tariffs are causing a mess, she is top manager at a car dealership.
And she knows I am worried about SS and doesn't want me to worry.
She's a good kid who worked hard to get where she is, doesn't watch the news and was just influenced by other managers and boyfriend to vote for Trump to have less taxes.

And a Dem Senator has just been elected in PA, a 15-point swing reversal.
Now is not the time to keep demoralizing Democratic voters but to work at convincing those who don't care to show up to vote they should consider changing their crazy behavior.

(61 posts)This is what Canadians cannot wrap their collective heads around. How can more than half the population of the United States be so stupid and narrowminded as to not see the consequences of voting in Trump and the doofusses of the Republican Party. Now we all will suffer from the fallout of a dangerous and misguided belief that somehow you all were going to be liberated from some sort of imaginary downfall of the US. Swallowing down all the BS and streaming lies unquestioningly throw at you for years from this foulmouthed uncouth asshole is beyond our comprehension. You all made your beds...and now you wring your hands in anguish. WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOU HAD TO VOTE?

Watch what happens when the "migrated" SS database, closed offices and chainsaw staffing cuts result in the immediate despair and destitution of millions.
This,, at the same time that stag-flation bites down hard, sending prices skyrocketing across the board even as 401ks collapse and people begin mass-defaulting on personal debts.

(55 posts)have been cult followers for decades. "I was a Maga junkie" ^^^ woman in the video clip above is rare in the willingness to admit her mistake, but that doesn't mean others aren't thinking it, even as they double down and deny. It IS like being a junkie. Where are you going to go for your daily feel good fix when you start to see the lies? It takes a long time to come around to accepting the unvarnished truth. Maybe they never will. I've got a shred of respect if any Base Magas want to detox and at least back off. Not expecting admissions of guilt or swarming to the other side. But the brutality of what is being done by the govt they elected IS hitting them.
IMO many of them now see they were used, betrayed, disrespected --pawns in a very big game that is rigged against them.
