Read you were on Bill Maher’s show and talked about cancel culture? Really?
I’m not your constituent, I am a blue pixel in an ocean of ruby red Texas. Cancel culture ranks 181st on most Texan’s worry list. Here are the top 10:
1) Am I going to lose my job?
2) How will the April 2nd tariffs affect my job. 370,000 Texans work in the Mexico/Canada trade. That’s 1 in 5 Texans.
3) How will I pay my mortgage?
4) How will I pay for my medical insurance?
5) How will I feed my kids?
6) I work in the oil business, who’s gonna buy our natural gas and sweet Texas crude?
7) I’m a farmer, who will buy my sorghum, corn, cotton, and rice?
8) I’m a social worker in a Title I Texas school, will I have a contract in the Fall?
9) I’m a rancher, who’ll buy my beef, pork and poultry?
10) Who will speak for us in Austin and Washington?
See something missing? How many Texans are talking about cancel culture? Read the room, sir.
One final word of advice - clean up your own house before you dis fellow Democrats nationally.
Fix your homeless problem.
Fix your nomad/broken trailer, sleeping in a car problem.
Fix your smash and grab problem.
Then come talk to the rest of us about cancel culture.
Love and light

(2,267 posts)Indeed.
Cancel culture may be the #1 "worry" on the Bill Maher show. Who is Newsome trying to reach by kissing up to Maher, Bannon and Kirk?

(76,584 posts)You raise valid points. Very well said.
However, Maher is obsessed with "cancel culture." It is a topic he serves up frequently. Watching his show is like getting a meal at McDonald's.
Cancel culture what does that even mean? You did something I don’t like so I’ll make you wear the scarlet letter or put you in the stocks. Shame - the gift that keeps on giving.

(4,055 posts)After seeing a documentary about the abuse many women suffered there, I wonder if Maher did something he fears will become public one day. If it does, he may be setting up a defense in advance by complaining about so called cancel culture now.

(8,936 posts)but we lost in November and need to win again.
Not sure the old BS is going to win. But that’s just my opinion, and apparently Newsom’s. Shapiro sounded much the same a few weeks ago on Maher.
We’ll have a better feel as midterms approach.

(1,303 posts)I think Shapiro and Newsom are jumping the gun, frankly.
Instead of going on Maher why don’t you hold some town halls? Even easier join Bernie and AOC?
It sounds like the same old same old to me, too.

Seriously, I see two MAGA camps in my family-the racist assholes and the ones who think it is cool to attend the Republican Women’s Luncheon and gossip about Hannity and the Five. I kid you not!
It’s almost time to pay that fiddler and they don’t even see it coming.

(1,303 posts)For not checking my numbers. 🤣 Mayor Ron Nirenberg of San Antonio said that last night.
Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit - he probably meant San Antonians. Oh my Lord that’s hilarious!😜
