This months theme is after dark. any photo taken after the sun has set,
there are 3 preliminary threads. the top 2 vote getters in each poll as well as the 2 highest vote getters after that will move on to the finals. i will only vote to break ties

(55,041 posts)There are many fantastic photos in this thread in particular, but I really like the Zombie.
She sort of looks like Sarah Jessica Parker, though that's not why I like it. I like the look on her face and the composition of the photo. It's striking.

(22,541 posts)being shown the beauty in ordinary things, caught in a moment in just the right light. For absolute beauty and timing the choice would have to be Night Rains. Those drops are just barely hanging on, so there's a sense of movement or anticipation to it. Simply gorgeous.
And who didn't jump when they scrolled to the tarantula? Sure, it's a spider. But there is that same sense of movement or anticipation that the photographer caught exactly right, just like the rain drops on the flower below it.
In the end I voted for streetlights at the marina. For some reason, I was attracted to the ordinariness of it- or seeing the beauty in the ordinary. I loved the color of the sky in contrast to the streetlights and that at just this time of day that combination makes all the cottages look so pretty. It made me quite philosophical. If we just open our eyes there's beauty all around us.
