BTW, I'm not outraged.

The Park, being public space, is for the Public. Many of the public like a show of myth around this time of year.

The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)Start telling people it scares you and the people behind it are all terrorists. Pick out those who represent the worst of that group and talk about them, and only them, and encourage others to do the same.
Us real progressives need to pull together and remove any and all symbols that show diversity or cultural significance (I have taught my daughter that if she sees a manger scene to run screaming and we will sue who ever put it out so that they have to pay for her trips to the psychologist to help her over the trauma of seeing something like that).
Can you imagine the pain and suffering that someone feels when they see christmas trees and hear people singing carols? That such things are allowed in this day and age is just insane. We all need to start writing letters to our local papers telling them we will not stand for this 'holiday' season (never say christmas season, it can send someone into shock) crap. And good will towards men??? What about women? It is a sexist death holiday that traumatizes the masses.
Let the voters know who we are, how we will help save them from these terrible things they see and hear, say it loud and be proud - "we will not tolerate things we ourselves don't like".
Oh, and I hope you and yours have a happy time of year that has the month known as December in it and may your eyes never fall upon such things again, bless you all (oh damn it, I can't say bless either...be back when I find a word that means the same thing but is not worded in an offensive manner).
ps - possible sarcasm in the above, in my defense it was a gut reaction to the mental image from the OP that caused it.

My sister and I used to play with the creche under my grandma's Christmas tree. It was all good until a plastic Santa and a stuffed reindeer took out a shepherd.

(45,319 posts)Do you think that it is going on? I personally put up what we call a 'Nativity' in my faith free home each year with some added action figures and animals made to enhance the set, which I brought back from Bethlehem way back in 73. For the religious crowd I offer the Infant Jesus, actual stone and soil from the place of Nativity and for others free candy.
I think this 'war on Christmas' is a Bill O'Reilly thing, no offense.

(120,554 posts)a Festivus pole. Take the pole with you to the discussion: it would be best if it involves a "Festivus for the Restivus" bannert
Meanwhile, contact town council members to explain your urgent need to use the park to display appropriate items on your religious holidays, including Beltane, Buddha's birthday, Dr Hofmann's Bicycle Day, Dydd Santes Dwynwen, Green week, International Day against Nuclear Tests, Lammas, Selassie Coronation Day. Be sure to point out politely that this is not a complete list. If you're certain the town is funding the creche, you should also make sure to inquire how to obtain town funding for your holiday displays
