DANIEL STRAUSS JULY 2, 2014, 11:51 AM EDT
When Hessy Taft was six months old, her face was used as an example of a perfect Aryan baby. The one wrinkle, which the Nazis didn't know at the time, was that Taft was actually Jewish.
"I can laugh about it now," Taft, now 80, told the German newspaper Bild. "But if the Nazis had known who I really was, I wouldn't be alive."
Taft recently showed a Nazi magazine that featured her photograph to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Israel, according to The Daily Telegraph of the United Kingdom.
Here's how Taft's portrait found its way into Nazi propaganda: Taft's mother, Pauline Levinsons, in 1935, took her daughter to Hans Ballin, a photographer in Berlin, to have Hessy's photograph taken. Months later, Levinsons noticed her daughter's picture on the front of the Nazi family magazine Sonne ins Hause. Levinsons was worried that her family's religious would be discovered so she confronted Ballin who said that he knowingly submitted Hessy's picture to a contest to find attractive Aryan babies.

(18,402 posts)No wonder the Nazis couldn't imagine she wasn't one of their uber-race. Which goes to show you how wrong they were to think there was such a thing as the "Aryan" race.

(102,744 posts)A BNP Euro election leaflet which opposes mass immigration shows a picture of a Second World War Spitfire - flown by a pilot who happens to be Polish.
...
The leaflet says: Its not racist to oppose mass immigration.
Mr Beales, 61, said the markings on the plane showed that it was flown by Jan Zumbach, CRRT commander of the legendary 303 Kosciuszko Squadron comprised of Polish pilots who were rescued from France shortly before Nazi occupation.
Mr Beales said: Presumably, if the BNP had been around at the time they would have opposed the employment of these Polish airmen too.

The BNP's claims that they knew it was a Polish Spitfire convinced no-one -because it totally undercut their "these people shouldn't be here" message.
I'm glad to say that, after a dalliance with the BNP in 2009, Britain kicked them out of their European parliament seats this year.
