Now that I am old, I think gray hair looks distinguished...

yuiyoshida
(42,976 posts)I mean, this was a kind of fun thing based off another DUer's post about "bad hair", it was asking people really is it so bad, and...Can WE have a little fun with it. My second favorite would be about him dying his hair in psychedelic colors.. it might look awesome.. but we don't wish to treat him as a clown, and his hair is lovely.. I can't believe one person thought he looked worse than Donald Trump, because clearly his hair doesn't.
This is all in fun, but I guess someone's fun, is another person's insult.. Its why the world is like it is today, the sense of humor is always DARK... and people like cynical jokes.. while others obviously get insulted by them.
DU gets so damn serious sometimes.. people need a break, too..to lighten up and have a little fun. Politicians are not GODS... but some treat them as such, I would imagine most of them at one time or another, make fun of themselves.. just to drop it down a notch.

(28,749 posts)AUTOMATED MESSAGE: Results of your Jury Service
On Sun May 3, 2015, 10:42 AM an alert was sent on the following post:
Bernie Sanders- BAD HAIR DAYS ?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026610719
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This is inappropriate. If someone started a thread like this on Hillary, DU would explode. Let's stick to policies folks.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun May 3, 2015, 10:45 AM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: IMHO, this doesn't fit GD but not hide worthy.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I agree with the alert.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Sanderista chill, this OP is sarcasm. Hope the DU jury isn't as stupid as the alerter thinks. The Sanders/Hillary war need to chill as it happens both of these candidates are on the same side, weird I know.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
yuiyoshida
(42,976 posts)OMG! What if DU exploded!! we would all have to runaway! Humor is becoming difficult on DU, so many get offended.. The whole idea was to satirize this supermarket tabloid concern about his hair, and most of us love it! Others think its too unruly, while most are smart enough to know, it really does not matter, its his policies, that are important. We all really need to lighten up on DU, as its become way too, too serious of late!

(135,425 posts)His hair will become a distraction otherwise.
Media will focus on it, and not his message. The latest pictures of his "crazy hair" will take center stage.
I assume he's hired handlers, he needs to listen to them when they suggest these things.
yuiyoshida
(42,976 posts)like a trade mark for him. Look at Enstein! The guy had crazy hair and went before forums of people and spoke brilliantly about Science...and yeah, people probably said, "That dude has crazy hair but he makes sense!!!" "The guy is a genius, and yet... can't find a comb?"
Wasn't Benjamin Franklin one of those crazy types, and people knew he was, but on the other hand, created the Postal Service as well as other kinds of important things for this country.
People Idolize Pop and Rock stars and no one complains about the fact they are not wearing a suit or their hair is not in place. HOWARD STERN, IS another example of crazy hair ...
And yet, he is famous, does a talk show, and has a huge following. Does anyone say, "Howard, you are in public now, cut your damn hair!!"
I think Bernie could more than likely get away with his hair, without having to take a trip to supercuts. The guy looks natural, as he should... Mr. Natural in fact!
MADem
(135,425 posts)Einstein was the "absent minded scientist-genius." He wore socks with sandals, too.
We don't want the guy with his finger on the button to give off the impression that he's too "off in the clouds" that he doesn't have the presence of mind to comb his own hair.
It's just not a good look.
Howard Stern is never going to be President. He has a radio show where he makes fun of naked women. I don't think he'd get many votes, even if he went to supercuts and got a crew cut.

Bernie with a John F. Kennedy like Buzz cut... I just can't!

(3,732 posts)Bernie's hair should be the new hip. It should be the REASON to vote for him for President. It should be the sign he is not the slick sociopath that somehow always manages to become a CEO. He is not that popular football player that bullies everybody in school.
I thought the same thing about Mark Dalton - "Eeyore for President!" would make a great slogan! I would vote for that! What have I ever gotten out of the slick Reagans and Bushes and Romneys of the world? What does helmet hair get me? A lying liar for President who is likely to try to distract everyone with "welfare queens" to wiggle out of responsibility for problems.
You know what? The guy who doesn't care about his looks actually cares about other people. And the time he spends not schmoozing is spent studying how to solve problems.
So Bernie should keep his distinctive wild hair and make it his TRADEMARK! Make it his BRAND! Make it the WAY OF THE SOCIAL-LEANING DEMOCRAT! His hair shows he gives zero fraks about what the fashion police of Rodeo Drive think, and he's ready to start practicing some serious legislative-fu.

(42,976 posts)If you love Bernie, you love his hair... and you know, people will poke fun at his hair, and that's fine, but really, read though this thread, there are no haters here...(yet) and we're all having fun with it, despite the fact one person, was insulted enough to want to push the Alert button! I would love to see that jury decision.. but it probably won't be posted here. I am sure the jurors comments are worth a read, and many of them "got it" what this is all about.

(42,976 posts)I started this poll because of a posting mentioning Bernie's so called Bad hair. We tend to be so damn serious here at DU, that sometimes, its just time to lighten up. You are right, his hair and her hair really doesn't amount to anything really important.. and yet, with people focused on it like some kind of Supermarket tabloid attention, thought it might be fun to poke fun at all of that.
I mean seriously, I can visualize Bernie dying his hair in tie-dyed colors, and being really hip, and it wouldn't matter. As mentioned earlier, there have been important people with crazy hair.. Enstein comes to mind, and Howard Stern (though he is not super important, he has a huge fan base in this country, and people probably would rather listen to him, than say a Rush Limbaugh (and look at his conservative hair!) All of this is meant in fun, and in no way reflects any kind of seriousness, but yet some people in this country are trying to make it some kind of issue. Its clearly not.. but no one can say, you can't have fun with it..,. go with the flow, right?

(19,537 posts)... if you don't have any solid reasons of your own for having them tied to you somehow. I think especially if you want to be a political leader like Bernie is now.
A demonstration of this is when the recent Doctor Who was wearing a Turkish fez to "be cool".
A further note on this is that in Turkey many cultural icons such as fezes and head scarves that people associated with Turks and muslim culture were banned in many parts of the country as a part of leader Ataturk's efforts to westernize the country after it was the Ottoman Empire, and to help keep religious divisions of different religious sects there from being the source of violence, etc. Much like many schools in some cities ban "colors" being worn that might provoke gang violence.
